Question: Twin Turbo kit

have you checked the shaft play on either turbo ? a guy i race with just got through having simalar problems with his truck .... high egt's and high DP with his twins ...... chased boost leaks... none..... after a long while of hunting he found out that there was a problem with the big turbo, bearings went bad prematurly had tons of end play wich made the turbo drag creating a restriction on the hot side and high egt's/DP . switched turbo and all is good now .

Did he put a gate on it to avoid this in the future? To balance pressure between comp/turbine?

im seeing 50lbs boost how do i have a boost leak?

My twins still made 45psi (and high EGT's) with that hole in the intake pipe...no joke. We are talking about a LOT of airflow here with those big twins.

it was gated , dont know the specifics i have hear bits and peices from him . but i thought the same i figured the gate would take that charger out of the equation for DP restrictions but it didnt for some reason :confused: seems like the more i learn about compound turbo's the dumber i feel :rofl:

ive even tried lowering the pw to 2800 and still have high egts, but im seeing 50lbs boost how do i have a boost leak?

Every twin truck I have tuned with high egt's had a boost leak. I know a couple ihi twin trucks that made 60+ lbs with a single cp3.

Whats your opinion on the IHI-Twins setup rob? Is it worthwhile to ditch it or keep the sucker? 60Lb on a single CP3 sounds decent to me, but hows tuneing? I had also planned to get a 60mm gate for the S400 and of course one for the hi-psi charger if i get somthin else thats ungated

Just tryin to get more info/ideas to make a informed choice;)

the turbo shaft play is fine. the gt45 only has maybe 6k on it and i checked the small one when i ported the intake horn. im going to rig up a way to test for leaks like you did with the pipe plugs. hopefully i do i have a leak and can fix it and be happy with them like everyone else.

the pipe plugs work well , but the turbo i mentioned before has less than 1k on it just defective from the get i guess . just a few things to check .

yeah im working on the plugs. my dp is only at like 70 @ 50 boost so i dont know about the charger being bad?

Try swaping the big charger wastegate tube where you adjust it. I never ran as hot as you are talking about and I would guess I was pushing more fuel.
