Using an S475 with 1.32 ar exhaust housing. Started last week and I've gotten over halfway I think. I'm still using my truck as a daily driver and leaving the mounts for the turbo on the truck, just bolting the turbo back up as I need to fit the tubing. Already have the battery mounted on the framrail and stretched the factory cables to it.

Here are some pics of the progress so far.

Thanks to everyone on this forum that has helped me out making it possible:hug:

What made you choose between the S475 and S480 and what flange did you use? I want to build twins for my truck also seams like it would be a fun project. Vaz wich A/R and flange did you use? Where did you guys buy the tubing and flanges?

Thanks

Yeah it was the easiest way I could find to route the hot pipe, you're pics definitely gave me a good idea of how to route it:thumb:. I haven't found any pics of the v-band where I put mine though, seemed like it would be way easier to fit the huge flange for the IHI back there without a bunch of tubing hanging off of it so I put it as far towards the stock turbo as I could.

I'll more than likely upgrade to an s480 in the future but still unsure if and when for now. I'm still running the stock IHI but will have a modded IHI on here with adjustable bd wastegate soon. Not sure what flange you are asking about?

i started out with a s472 with a john deere race cover and a 1.32 exhaust hsg. Ran it for like 6 months and then i had the comp cover, and center cartridge machined for a 80mm inducer and a 110mm exducer extended tip comp wheel. It feels like it spools faster and definitly feels alot stronger. I bought 99% of the parts from www.racepartsolutions.com i used a stock downpipe i cut up and sectioned to put a vband clamp and flanges to the top of it. T6 flange was also bought from raceparts. i found this place: www.mandrel-bends.com ,after i built my twins to be alot cheaper than raceparts on mandrel bent pipe

Yeah I got a majority of my tubing and clamps from www.mandrel-bends.com. They didn't have a 4-5 adapter piece of tubing for the exhaust or 5" tubing for the intake but they had the rest pretty much. The exhaust flange and tubing to adapt to 3" came from there in SS. Everything else came from race parts solutions other than turbo, oil lines, and a few things I picked up locally.

i cut the 5" flange off the exhaust hsg and tig welded a 4" v-band flange to it with stainless filler rod . i did this to save some room for downpipe fitment (4" dp)

Hmm, if I can't get it to fit I'll look into that. Its a good idea although I'm a little weary of cutting and welding the turbine housing.

I found everything i'll need in advance if i remember correctlly. I had planned on trying to run a 5in downpipe. I know its tight but ill mod things to fit it if needs be. The only thing im thinkin about is the inlet. Here a while ago, i screwed up my S&B filter so i ordered a a new filter, the upgrade one for LB7's. Well i didnt know it then but its for a whole new improved intake kit. Ok, well no biggie, wont be using it anyway but i do have a HUGE, very nice filter, should work real nice for the S400 but its 4" inlet iirc and the turbo is 5" or 5.5" and i dont really wanna choke it down. Wonder if they'ed exchange one:D

Thinkin of welding a V-band flange or even better a Wiggin's flange for the compressor outlet? Nessisary...No but sure looks sweet and makes a reliable seal!

Vaz, did you leave the Deere on yours:spit: Im thinkin of removing that detail

Hows your guys turbos sound? I heared a S475 on a common rail 5.9 this year as a single and it was hellacious! It was almost scary, but i liked it:thumb:

Thanks for the replies, I was asking about the exhaust flanges T-4 or T-6 on the big turbo. I thought I read somewhere that some body went with the T-6 but had some regrets they thought the T-4 would have worked better.

i wouldnt use the t4 for a twin setup, i would use it for a single though
