Im also in the market for a hairdryer. Ive looked at the cheetahs, but with the poor reliablility and the $3250 price tag i think i'll be going with something else.
Id get a 40/94 or a HTT.

When is the new motor going in?

There is starting to be alot of friendly competition in AZ
I blame Turbotug for starting the trend

wow i dont knwo why every body is so against the cheetah's just because a couple had failures. like every other company does. i have had mine for a year with 0 problems and it performs great. and if i am not mistaken the 71 that jneal is selling is a ballbearing turbo. but any of the gt turbos will work great on your truck. but i do love my cheetah

Duramax_JP I got your message over at the DP and ill respond here.

Personally the stock turbo was not meant to spin the way the Cheetah upgrade allows them to do... Plus I am not fond of FPE but anyway my 4094 is an awesome turbo from its low RPM sound to its ear piercing mid/full throttle whistle. I have ran a best of 12.32 with it and I can bet there is .2 or more that I will be able to drop while still running my LLY CP3/Modded Regulator.

And to compare stock turbo spool up to an aftermarket turbo is irrelevant. Sure my VVT spooled quicker but who cares? The second my 4094 gets to about 10 psi it pulls crazy hard. If you go with a 4094 you'll have a 12.2-12.3 second truck on single CP3 and stock injectors NO PROBLEM. Say you later want to go to a twin setup the 4094 twinned with a 4718 should support 850 RWHP

I'm not against the Cheetah, I'm actually pretty partial to it, and as far as annoying sound, I dont really notice it, I think its fairly quiet:) I'm getting pretty close to a year with the 71.5mm.

Also they only live so long with a single cp3 and 4094 if you beat it hard.just get the check book out or credit card ready. :baby:

Tuning does play a lot into it as well. I am under 1000ftlbs of torque and around 575-580hp and with WD Regulator that im gonna get around to installing it should hit 600+-5-10 hp. My tune has lots of timing lots of pw and stock injectors im beginning to believe it is in the torque not just timing,PW,and EGT's. Guys with twins and a low hp tune have cracked pistons at 1100 or so EGT's running low timing and pw... I assume in their tuning they go for 1200-1400ftlbs. It is also a crap shoot Casper went through several turbos with single and Dual CP3's with the stocker+nitrous,HTT Dual CP3/4088 Dual CP3, then went to the 4202 Dual CP3 and bent all 8 rods IIRC:D WolfLLY ran a HTT Dual CP3 combo for 35,000 miles or so with a "detorqued" tune from Pat and he never had a problem with pistons/rods So there are so many variables in this equation

Thats what I run, I've ran it for about 10 months and im still good... but I don't beat on my truck at all only at the track. on the ocassion ill go WOT for a few seconds but whats the point? In CA if I raced a car on the highway or street i'd get my truck impounded loose my license and get fined out the ass. I know my truck runs low 12's for me that's enough... well ya nad you guys:rofl:

Here there is photo radar every 10 feet so I have to be

I just want to run a 12.8 and then I can retire her until someone local beats that time

Kevin atleast you dont have the weak LBZ pistons bud,You can look at a LBZ and the pistons will crack.I think I said in a post before to you your ahead if you can get rods and have your piston cut and coated it will save you money in the long run.Not like me I had to buy rods and new LB7 pistons.

I'm still of the belief that there is poor quality control on the LBZ/LMM pistons. Some blow easy, others survive getting the crap beat out of them. The first time we ran 10's in Casper (754rwhp), it had LBZ pistons in it. They never failed. Nitrous ate big chunks out of them later, but still no cracks. Wendy was one of the first "fast" LBZ's and has lots of track time, and no piston issues yet.

You might want to up the ante a bit.

If I would ever get my lazy azz to the track and learn to drive this pig...:D

Plus, Brian is only .o3 from a 12.8x run anyway..

Paint nailed it!:)

I am counting on you never going to the track;)
You will be the one tuning my truck so you will make sure it makes a little less power

I am not scared of Brian I think a 12.8 will be a bad run for me with the new turbo
