I am not concerned with blame issues of any kind. My concern is to fix the trans correctly as I see fit in a reasonable amount of time. I won't relate my thoughts on the TTS kit and why I don't think it works very well. We will just fix this trans and get on with having fun. :D

Well IMO, the TTS kit isn't a built tranny when done. You still have stock clutches in there. Better off buying a good TC and doing an Ally Jr if you don't want to do a full kit or dive into the tranny. Cheaper and will get you the same thing really.

What bugs me, is why TTS advertises it as a fully built tranny kit. If you compare it to an SC IV, the difference is obvious.

A line Pressure shim was not installed, Its looks more like a washer then anything. Mike and myself discussed it not being in there and do not think that was the cause of the failure. I will let Mike elaborate on the subject if he chooses because I will probably mess up the terminology needed to explain the purpose of the shim and how much pressure it actually increases.

My transmission went three+ years and 80K+ miles of everyday beatings and abuse, just a little old SC-III. I talked to Mike at least a dozen times over whether it not I hurt it before Big Dipper pulled it for a refresh, both agreed it was fine.

Dipper pulled it out in September and they were both right, the only thing we replaced besides the converter for a tighter one was C3's, not because they were bad but as insurance as they see alot of abuse.

Someone else tried this early on with a single disk converter and it went down in flames too, didn't it ????

How much pressure is that shim washer supposed to add??? If it's a lot, I can see how leaving it out may have caused or allowed a pre-mature failure to occure BUT I can't imagine it would happened all at once like that. I mean, it's kinda strange that had been holding fine, was holding fine at the time then just completely fried all of a sudden. Seems there would have been slippage at some point leading up to the failure as parts (clutches) deteriorated rather than just a sudden failure like that supposedly caused by lack of pressure??? Like I said, my rational (and I know next to nothing about these transmissions) is that the parts would have failed slowly if the only thing wrong was the lack of pressure. This seems like something gave way suddenly. Crazy. I do feel for you.

FWIW, my SCIII has held up great thus far. It was built by Eric Merchant. I failed to maintain my u-joints properly and now have a cracked tailhousing on my transmission that leaked all the fluid out as a result. Hopefully the damage is minimal and simply replacing the clutch packs will be the most I have to do (aside from a new tailhousing case  ) to get it back on the road for 30K more miles of 500rwhp beating. :D

I dont no how yall fill about it but still i would rather try something that someone eles had in there personal truck rather then try something someone had test for them. It kinda tells me here try this and after u run it i will put it in my truck. And if it hurts yours better luck next time.

ahhh, that's cute.

Yep, as I said earlier, I don't know squat about these things but surely 25psi isn't THE golden key to holding or not holding is it? Granted, more is probably better, I can't imagine 25 more psi is the difference in that kit holding or not holding up... Am I off base???
