The electronics is a big problem because Allison uses it in place of acumalators which regulate shift quality using pedal position. Next problem is using 2 pressure regulators at the same time. One pulses a clutch on ( slip it on for comfort ) and the other pulses the off going clutch ( slips it off ) at the same time. What's the chances of getting this timing correct on a towing, bulky, not made for racing trans trying to run big hp and asked to shift fast in a 7K truck? Not promissing is it?
The internals are all wrong in the Alli as are the gear ratios and it has too many gears. The trans is too heavy for racing and the huge size of the internals do not help with high performance. remember GM did not install the Alli for you to race. They installed it to handle just about any kind of load or overload yo can think of when used as it was intended. The Allison will in most cases beat the shit out of any trans 5 to 1, mileage wise, on the planet when used as intended.
