Truck went boom

Driving to work, half throttle 50mph something went boom. Free revved, no forward or reverse power, no power in 4hi. Trans fluid bright red level is good, tcase fluid was sparkly but no chunks and really not terrible for 20k miles on mobil1 5/30. Unhooked driveline from axle and spun by hand and it has smooth resistance... Thinking either trans input/output or something in the tcase let go, before I pull the tcase anything else to check...

Hook up a scanner and watch the turbine speed sensor signal in park. If input shaft broke, there will be no signal.

Well if it was broken anywhere in the transfercase it would still spin in park, hoping it was transfercase because I have a spare

id rather not pull a tcase until i can verify the trans input atleast like mike suggested, besides i wouldnt even split it open id throw the spare one in

No noise, everything sounds normal just no gogo juice

most likely lost the input shaft then when the converter hit lock up at 50. for sure test will be what mike mentioned

yeah still trying to find a shop that has a scanner that can look at that as well as a shop that knows what to actually look for

If you don’t have a scanner you could pull the PTO cover see if drum is spinning if it’s not you have broken input.
