Louisburg, KS for now
interoir is nicer more driver friendly,
handling a load. the new one can barely hold a candle to the red one.. IMO
red frame height over axle is 32"
green frame height over axle is 36"
4500lb pin weight squats
new one ~5".
old one ~2.5"
spring length is another big difference old/new 56"/64"
wheels/tires 235/85/16 vs 225/70/19.5 while the 19.5 ride little rougher they make up big time in stability and steering response.
brakes system..
old ~14" disc F/R with dual 66mm piston calipers F/R
new ~13" disc F/R with dual 40mm? piston calipers f/r

4l85 and 4.63 gears
allison and 3.73 gears
on a 5% grade the new one dropped to 4th (1:1) to pull it at 60mph with traffic on hills with no traffic i ran 65 in 5th with no signs of lugging 6th is just toooo tall to run hills at 24,000lb
old 4th(OD) and 4.63 is basically mechanically the same as 4th and 3.73 in the alison.
new one is little faster most likely to the extra ~60hp
off line they are roughly the same till about 55 till the longer legs of the new starts walking away

allison and air ride in the rear on the red truck, and i'll park the new one.
when it comes to loaded handling, steering, brakeing, the GMT800 cannot do it nearly as soundly confidently as the GMT455 platform can..
if you plan on DDing more than towing dont get a 455.. it will be the shit out of you lol
i'm not liking the IBC on the 07.5 either made a vent/wtf is is working right?!?! thread about it..

I can believe the handling for sure. We had 3/4 & 1 ton 1990 - 1998's at the farm and it didn't matter how much weight you put on them, they wouldn't move. Not to mention that 1976 3/4 we had with a service bed full of tools and 1000 gallon diesel tank in it. Fill that tank up, throw some extra tools in the back for spring planting or fall harvest and the pickup didn't look like there was anything in there. :D

I can believe the LMM squatting that much, I'm surprised its not more actually.

Looks like you'll have to swap the wheel's/tires over to the old one being it has much better brakes. I can't believe they've gone backwards on the brakes, it doesn't make sense.
My 03 has terrible brakes & I've flushed the blake fluid & power steering fluid twice. My next steep is to put DOT4 in the brake system, synthetic power steering fluid, and put a cooler on power steering system. Also look into the LMM hydro boost being some people are saying they're larger, need to do some research; may also look into a new power steering pump from PSC, red neck, etc.

I've always wondered how the IBC work on the newer pickups. I just like how they're built into the dash, but your other thread doesn't make me want a newer pickup just for that by any means. :D

I've been looking at putting air ride on my cab and rear suspension as well, along with all the other things I want to do.:D

FWIW the red truck is a class 4 truck with a GVW of 15,000lb the new is class 3 with gvw of 11,400.. or 12,700 if you add factory axle rating together
been think about the PSC,AGR redneck pumps..

todays load and weight 12,000lb of PVC decking.. suppose to be 5,000lb.. boss man say call the broker see if you can get ~2.5x more money since they screwed up and put extra on you! shipper goes there is no way it weighs that much.. i tell the broker(landstar) that CAT scales are never 7,000lb off. i can send you heavy/light tickets and picture of said load when empty, when i call you in the am to let you know im empty. him sure thing and i will work on adjusting your rate! :woott:
gues 10.5mpg in southern PA at 25,XXX isnt too shabby

Brother in laws 1/2 ton lost his clutch slave cylinder. Got a kick out of watching the look on his face as I drove his truck up my trailer using only the ignition switch and brakes to stop and go. It was entirely to hot and humid to be using the old come-along though. :D

Eyes on the road...

I did a job in the middle of campus. When this cute little thing caught my eye. I then knocked over a light pole with my track hoe. I was in the clear though since it was in the demo plan, but I wasn't going to take them down until the new ones arrived.

Yeah I read that I just wasn't sure if you liked it any better/worse since you had a some more seat time.

i've put ~3300 miles on it since i bought it and 2700 towing. main reason for buying it was milage and longer legs.. todate per tank i have seen 9.5-15(no trailer)with majority of them 10.5mpg sitting idling in 95-100* heat doesn't help mpg either.. this 34 gallon tank i dont like either, really needs an extra 20 gallons, once i get settled in i have to stop for fuel.. neither transfer flow or titan make midship tanks for rclb since both extend the tank forward under the cab.. titan told me they are releasing a tank that will mount in the spare tire area ~34gl with transfer pump and lines..... in November.. i did find a company that will make DOT compliance fuel tank for bout 750.00 i can use the gm stock sending unit and have the big truck fill opening, currently i cant really use the truck fuel lanes due to 1/2 the nozzle don't fit the neck so i have to fight the auto side. truck side i can drop55gl in ~6 minutes vs 3x on the auto side http://www.fleettruckparts.com/Fuel...lon-Milgrade-Aluminum-16-x-22-x-26-Both-Sides

I hear you there on the fuel nozzles.
I drove from Kansa city to Wichita to get a blazer a few years ago and to stop for fuel half way there. There was only semi fuel stations so I had to stand there the whole time to hold the nozzle just barely on to fill it up. It took forever and there were a bunch of semi's behind me.
Since then I've thought about putting a 1" fill into my take for that reason.

Why not just get an RDS toolbox tank combo or just a tank and plumb it into the filler neck? I have mine set up with an 80s chevy fuel selector valve and just fuel up with the flip of a switch. They have a few options from 36 to 90 gallons.

i have thought about those or similar setups... since i run no bed, weight, climbing over them, DOT cant see the coupler, chains, or break a way cable and relatively useless to me in current setup.. i have limited space.. also have to comform to DOT rules on aux tanks and transfer tanks..
also a 60gl single tank will have more useable gallons than any dual tank setup.. since one can never completely empty the tank 100%

Adam, you need to give us some towing shots including the new truck :thumb:

only broadside i have taken... should be getting fenders on it this weekend.. its technically currently legal without either flaps or fenders due to the trailer on the back and im going to drop the front down 1-2"

Didn't realize you had already pulled the bed off. Looks like a completely different truck now with no bed and the chrome simulators off.
