4:30 will probably be a better match then 4:56. But 4:56 will work well too. That's what I'm running and it's not too bad. Little high on cruising RPM but I'm running slightly smaller tires then you

4.30 would have gotten me just about back to stock. Having done the math in a spreadsheet, 4.56 worked best for me and I was able to get a set of US made AAM 4.56 gears over all the foreign stuff offered by everyone else. Then found a set of new old stock American made USA standard gears on eBay for the front.

Honestly my choice was swayed by the availability of American made gears.

Back to the towing pics. Bought another one today.

Why I went 4.56 with 32" tire. 6th at 70 was 21-2200rpm. 6/5 downshift was. 300rpm increase vs almost 1000rpm that 5/4 was On my LMM hotshot truck. Also ran a AX7L TC with ~16-1700rpm stall. Helps tremendously getting 20-30k trailer moving.

The 4/5 shift moved to around 45mph vs 55-60

4.30 wasn't available for the front when I was running that truck or I would have gone that route.

current 09 lmm is get 4.10 and low stall TC with 34" tires.. ideally 4.30s and a low stall TC from Phil Taylor at DPC

I'm relation to my previous post..
When you tow heavy or high sail load you'll find a "shelf" about 1800rpm in the power curve that bellow that it's all heat and no productivity .. IDK about the L5P guys.

And how low of a gear i go is greatly depending on how often, how much I'm towing, terrain towing in and how fast I want to cruise and wheel diameter.

I turned it up to the hot tune towing that black truck yesterday. Temps were better than in the lower tunes. Trans didn’t get above 192, coolant hovered around 200. EGT’s hit 1100 under wot having to pass some morons but that’s about it. 800ish cruising. Ambient was 90.

It was a bit tongue heavy for my liking but 22’ of trailer only gave me so much room to fiddle with.

FWIW engine oil temp.. OEM pistons aren't fond of sustained temps.over 220°

I try to keep an eye on pressure, as I can tell when it gets hot but at this point, I don't even care. I have two complete low miles stock engines sitting on the floor in the garage. Gonna put this thing thru the ringer until the built motors done. LMM oil pressure sucks with Rotella T6 regardless, I change it every 5k.
