Ya, the way I see it...ya it was tuned, but it wasn't running more than stock boost etc, nothing to cause crazy compression, whether it would have happened tuned or not I don't know but of course gm is gonna blame the tuner even though other than seeing that its been tuned they can't prove it was the tune...for all they know all I changed was tire size or something like that. If it was proven that something I did that I shouldn't have is what caused the problem I don't expect them to pay. Like others have said, pay to play and its that way with anything. Ill hopefully start the tear down a week from tomorrow and then better be able to diagnose the problem and maybe the cause. Thanks for all the suggestions and the vin check. Ill be sure to update this thread as I learn more.

I want to get the truck back, clean the engine bay up REAL good and then do a compression test and look over the motor. Then check coolant levels and oil sample and go from there. I think itll be time to do valve cover gaskets and some little stuff, but Im almost positive it wasnt HG.

Sounds like they are super anal. Seems like dealers are really becoming watch dogs. Last time my truck was at the dealer they cleaned my clean engine. Then they pooched it by getting the electrics wet. Right Stacks? :rofl:

But it's been said before that they can dig deep enough they can tell but what is being posted here wont relate to LB7's.


All of this shouldn't come to anyone as a big surprise anyway,of course GM is going to cover their asses,makes sense. With all the resources of power adders GM isn't going to continue to repair trucks for free. Bottom line if you add power you no longer have a warranty. What sucks is some dealers that don't need the work will scan the truck immediately for ALL warranty claims. So the simplest no brainer warranty repairs will be disqualified. I can see it now ,Oh Boy.......... :(

Rancho Grande first which i regret now because up at golden hills/paso gmc I probably could have gotten it covered. I took it to paso after rancho to confirm headgasket which they did. Also said they are doing one for a guy right now and it is about 5200. Said they would do parts at cost but it is still like 5k. Im going to pick it up tomorrow and will be doing the work myself and have my dads mechanic friend if problems or questions arise. On my way to paso gmc the low coolant level light came on as well, also there is oil in the coolant. Never did smoke out the exhaust though.

Wow what a thread, Sorry you got caught, but it happens. I have seen and repaired head gaskets for leaking oil externally with no actual internal running problem. As far as the big bag-fest on the dealers.....Ya most suck and the good ones are far and few between, but these are new days in the GM world! If a dealer doesnt dot an i or cross a t properly, the dealer/mechanic pay for the job under warranty. So as a mechanic its not a matter of being hungry enough to get your modified truck fixed under warranty, it becomes a chess match with mine and the dealers ballz on the table and the customer and GM are the only one with knives. In the past it was easy to help someone out at the dealer level, Now not so much, ya this dealer sounds shady in a story that is being told through as many as 4 people, mechanics tell service managers and service writers info about customers cars every day and when it gets regurgitated to the customer it makes no sense. So once again sorry you dont have a seat at the table right now, I would still try to get some of your ext.Warranty money back, heck nothing ventured-nothing gained......

Probably not an issues but check your oil cooler very close, we had one lose and oring and fill the cooling system with oil then had headgasket issues. Don't really know what happened when but the cooler was first and the 13-14 hr drive to me and camaro race did in the gaskets. Apparently oil doesn't cool as well as water/antifreeze:D.

It has been quite a while but my truck is almost back together. After i picked it up from the dealer that voided my warranty we got a call from another dealer about 30 minutes away who is a family friend. They said to bring it to them and they would take care of it. Once i got it there they find out the warranty is voided which we thought they already knew (maybe they did maybe they didnt) But we were not about to pay 5200$ to get it fixed. It sat at that dealer for 2 months while i gathered funds and i decided to call a local diesel shop and they quoted me 3k. So i went and picked up the truck and took it to them. Once they got it all torn down they had the heads sent off and tested and surfaced. Once parts came in they started putting it back together and I get a call today that while putting the heads on the tech saw a cracked valve guide. Not sure how that wouldnt show in a pressure test of testing of the heads. So now they are waiting on a new valve and valve guide. So i thought i was gonna get my truck back tomorrow but now its looking like not until next week. I dropped the truck off 2 weeks ago today. I miss my truck to say the least haha
