Just got in from working on the truck. Was out there for 2.5 hours, mostly flat on my back in the driveway under the truck. QUESTION: There's a clamp holding the trans supply/return lines together and to the engine block. Looks like a clamshell type, with a hinge, so I KNOW it opens. question is = HOW DOES IT OPEN? I was messing with it for about 30 minutes, trying to open it. Finally got too frustrated with it and cleaned up. This is ticking me off. Does anyone know how that clamp opens???????

You can break it like I did. I think you have to slid a small flat screw driver into it from the side on the top. To pop the catch lose, but like I said I broke it.

Thanks Dozerboy. I would really like to re-use it when I re-install the lines. BUT I guess I can go buy a generic insulated clamp and mod it to work. Hate to break it though......

Ya they are tricky to open but you should be able to get it with a screwdriver or two.
My occasional drip when it's cold has turned into a daily drip now. Need to do something soon here I guess.

Cutting the rubber out and getting our hydraulic shop to fix something up that won't leak. I will take pictures and post them up tomorrow.

So how are these new lines holding up? I was under the truck the other day and noticed I have 2 leaky hoses again.

The local hose shop can use a compression union to clamp on to the pipe and replace the hose with hyd hose, but the I.D. of the compression fittings drops down to 3/8" and the tube is 1/2". I have heard that this restriction can cause problems. Any thoughts on this Mike?

Mine seem to be holding but my truck sits in the garage more than it sees day light most of the time. Thats how I made it to 40k since 06:D

Took a look under the truck the other day, and so far no leaks. These are the supposedly "updated" GM lines. I think I posted it somewhere, but I'm now running Amsoil low viscosity ATF. This is my 5th set of lines on the truck.

I was able to get the clamp apart. I decided I didn't care if I broke it so I took a big'ole screwdriver and pried it open. It opened and did NOT break..... cool. Was able to wrangle the leaky line out in one piece (PITA...) and took it to the NAPA parts store to get it fixed.
When I got there and put the line on the counter, the guy said "Well, we don't fix anything THAT small..."... DANG IT!!!!! Luckily they had a number of a guy who does. Be taking the line to him first thing in the morning....

Is there any kind of dressing (sealant, grease, etc...) that needs to be applied to the line ends before they are pushed back where they belong???

Yeah, I saw those. I'm just fixing the one leaky line this time. If another leak starts than I'll pry the wallet apart and get the kit Tony is selling. I would do it this time but the truck is my daily driver and I can't wait for the shipping time. It HAS to be up and running by tomorrow night.

Here is what we came up with. I didn't wan't a braided hose so we went this route. It is rated at 2500 psi and plenty flexible.

I'm going to have a -10 male adapter welded on the hard lines and get the stuff to do hyd lines. But no one wants to weld them that I trust, so I might have to do the compression fittings.

Hi,monkeyone here, i have a 06 duramax with keaking cooler lines was at a tsb that said it is not a diy and i looked at it and they be right besides if is
a tsb they can screw it up just as i can so i will take it to dealer.
O ne other thing do any of have a problem with your trans. not engaging first
thing in the morning. i thought i saw somewhere that there was mention of a
check valve that kept fluid in the converter, because once you run it thru the
gears it is good for the rest of the day, thank's

Wow I need to bring Adam and Kurt on full time as translaters I think!

I would post your second question in Mike L's area with info like if it's a built trans or stock, trans-go installed, that kind of stuff.

I'm sure he will be able to help you out!!
