A guy I know proposed a trade for my truck, mine is a 2wd 07 ecsb LT LBZ with 93k miles lifted. His is an 03 ccsb LT 4x4 Lb7 95k miles also lifted. Mods are both the same, mild tunes and exhaust, both in excellent condition. I was planning on building my trans and keeping the truck, but should I trade and have the cc 4x4 before I build a trans?

Your going to lose, your manual shift button, 6 sp. and have to worry about doing an injector job sometime around 100k +/- and every 100k after that unless you throw a new top end on it and rewire, I know the 4x4 would be nice but I'd stick with the LBZ and not have to worry about losing the injectors

Ya the six speed is very nice to have, and I rarely if ever need 4x4 but it is nice to have along with the crew cab. This is tough because of the injectors though..

DOOOONNNNTTT DO IT!! and thats coming from a guy who loves his LB7 lol

haha i do like the way both motors run..

So consensus is keep the lbz..

Are there any longevity differences between the 2 at 400 to 500hp? Besides injectors?

Aside from injectors, will an Lb7 with 75k miles not run as well as an LBZ? What about longevity?

Depends on what you mean by "run as well as a LBZ". they both will run very well if kept up to par and both would last a very long time as well. Stock for stock, the LBZ will walk a LB7

why does he want to trade? that is the question

My truck is nice and very well maintained, his needs a few minor things but only has 75k miles, it is a 4x4, ccsb, leather, and has a nice fabtech lift on it. He just paid to put injectors in it so I think that is alot of the reason why he wants to trade.

He has only had an edge juice on it, and I plan to build a transmission either way so I thought this may be a good deal.

I dont see any motor or trans benefits, but I think they are reliable aside from injectors. I would gain the crew cab, 4x4, 20k less miles, and a better lift kit. Other than that my truck has the six speed/LBZ, better interior package, and alittle better body style.

Well then i guess its really up to you at this point. all your gunna get from us is opinion and when your deciding on a truck, its your opinion that counts. with that said, id stick with the LBZ. your resale value is gunna be better in the long run.

I would stick with Lbz, my play truck has 180,000 and tow rig 190,000 both Lbz
I had a lb7 before them with twins, bigger injectors and my stock lbz went faster with just a lift, pump, tune, and exhaust. Lb7 is a strong motor, but after 3 sets of injectors, it gets old

I have no use for a 2wd truck newer than 1972. I'd be looking for a 4wd regardless of whether you trade or not.

Are you proposing an even trade key-for-key?

LBZ & 6-spd w/ tap shift would be hard to lose but 2wd is least desirable FOR ME.
