mizer, I'd say Matt is being conservative about his hp numbers. The OH clan has left alot of room for hp in the 2.6 class. If the economy improves (and anyone has a job left), 2009 will see some stupid power for the 2.6 class.

To stay on topic, I'll add that I have seen good representation 'round this area for BFG, STS, and CT's. I have seen a couple of other A/T based tires perform well. I just can't say I have seen enough to mention them. The best performance was seen when the tires were used at the track ONLY.....

My $.02....

I was at the dyno when Matt's truck was dynoed. I know it has much room for improvement, and things sound very good for him for 2009 season.

Copy the economy and job situation. It sucks.

I think g man meant that the Mat's estimate on the amount of power needed to succeed in the 2.6 class for 2009 is a little conservative. Around these parts, THIS YEAR it took every bit as much power as Mat suggests it'll take for next year and it was single CP3 around here

Hey numnuts, they aint talkin bout me they are talkin bout a different Matt.., of course there was room for improvement when we were at the dyno, i just wanted to see what the stock charger tune would do with the new turbo change and nothin else.. We could have jacked off with EFI for hours and made more power but we didnt... I had other shiznit to do..

My input on tires is STS's are sweet but i dont think they are the ticket unless ur pushin over 600 hp like others said... The faster ur wheelspeed with them the better..

Ya, I fingered that out.;)

I think you were at that hp line where the sts were too much but you had too much motor for anything else. Maybe not, but that's what I think.

You should tack out 4th pretty easy now though.

What did KY decide this year?

This is all gonna pertain to NKTPA. I think WOP, if they are still around next year, is sticking with the same rules as last year which is 2.5 single CP3.

NKTPA added a Work Stock class that is 8500lbs, stock turbo(s) NOT just stock appearing. They can't be cheetah-type chargers. If the charger came as a twin on a truck, it must stay as a twin configuration. So, the big charger in the 6.4 Ford Twins can NOT be ran by itself. You can swap chargers within the same make of trucks but can NOT swap chargers from one make to another. And they have to be from 1-ton or less trucks. ex. can't put a duramax charger onto a powerstroke or Cummins. You can put a CR charger on a VE 12V and vise versa. No front hanging weights. Complete license/registration, functioning interior, etc. All the typical rules for a hitch - reese style, furthest point of truck, 26" high, bla bla bla.

NKTPA went to a 2.6 class for Street using NADM rules with three changes. (1) 8200lbs instead of NADM 8K. (2) no lincensing & registration rules (3) some type of FUNCTIONING kill switch mandatory on ALL trucks.

NKTPA took their 3.0 class down to a 2.8 bushed class with oe driveline. They did this to try and save the driveline and keep from having to go 3.0 open driveline and have Scheid type trucks come down and wax that ass all the time since those guys don't have many other close hooks.

Hopefully with those rules, our guys can go be competitive other places and plenty of out-of-state trucks should be able to come play with us some too. That was the motive - get on board with a few other places to have some more uniform rule-sets from region to region. :D

I think that's the gist of it. They have a new site going up www.NKTPA.net but it's brand new and note completely up-to-date yet.

So, you all gonna bring the Orange Truck down to play a little??? There are several NKTPA pullers just across the river from you all in N.KY so you aren't that much farther. Should come down some. It's a really good circuit to run with IMO. You all staying 2.8 or going down to 2.6?

To be honest, I don't know. It wasn't really ever brought up. The only guy around here that pulls one is out in the western part of the state (he's on compD but I can't remember his name. truck name is Smoke Showin and Justin Bragg a.k.a. kinofab is helping him out) so he pulls with a different organization that has most of their hooks over that way.

Best thing I know is to go to nktpa.COM and ask. It's a yahoo "group" with a message board. They may be able to answer that for ya. I don't recall it ever saying a 2wd is prohibited and seems like NADM has hitch rules (30" for 2wd as opposed to 26" for 4wd) so they may allow 2wds, in which case, I guess NKTPA would also since they have the same rules.

I personally think they should be allowed. That's a lot of typing for a simple answer of, "I don't know".

I'm sure we will make Burlington like last year and if any others are close to us. Haven't decided what we are doing yet.

Here are brand new STS on a WS truck. I think it would have done better with less tire. This is Burlington last year Mitch.

I hear some people that love the sts' like on here and some people that absolutely hate them that I talk to in person. Personally I love my bfg's for what I do. I have to drive to some of the pulls when no trailer is available and after a year of traveling like that alot they still have their sharp edges and will hook damn good. Maybe one of these days though when I win the lottery and have a 900hp dmax ill try the sts', but until then Im sticking with what works for me.
