honestly I thought I would go to the track more. the truck has made a dozen passes since I bought it, eight of them in the tens. I have had zero real street races with it. pretty much anytime I floor it I expect it to break. it was definetly over 1100hp on its best days, which is awesome, but also totally pointless. it was relegated to a daily driver street truck that I was afraid to drive. so just not into it anymore.

already have a complete lly and built trans lined up for it. should sell stock without much trouble.

the rest of it will get parted out and sold off.

To be honest with you, it drives me crazy when people say trucks aren't streetable and how useless they are etc. Your right foot has all control over that. I drove my truck 1600 miles to see Evan on the same tune that has went faster than yours. Not a dig, just showing they can be drove if you don't floor it all the time. I'm getting ready to drive it to Michigan, 6 hrs away, for a new turbo setup. It's a self control thing. Which I don't have much of either, so I just put it in 4wd when I want to play.

Sorry your getting out of it. I don't know what going on must be something in the water out west.

I read somewhere that the egr and pcv could cause a run on. Not sure if that's true like I said I saw it somewhere. As for oil causing one I can say my original ihi that grenaded made a mess in my intercooler. I pulled a good gallon or better out of my intercooler when the turbo went. Luckily I didn't have a run on.

oh I agree it is perfectly streetable as is, but what a terrible waste of power. I drove it to Evans, I drive it in the snow and rain, and to take my kid to daycare. so why have a 1000hp truck? trust me I have great self control, the truck very rarely gets beat on. I just don't see the point right now. maybe I'm just getting old and tired of breaking stuff for the sake of telling people I have a 1000hp truck.

I've honestly thought of selling mine too and just settling in with a 05-06 GTO. I still want a GTO but after dealing with Nick then losing money with him, then putting more money back into it to fix what Nick touched, I've got too much money in my LB7 now to get rid of it. Not to mention I will have had the truck for 7 years in February. Hard to let go of the ol' girl. I guess I'll save up for a LS car in the background.

But getting married this year doesn't help the LS funding lol

I'd be lucky to make 650 and I'm debating going back to a stock turbo and installing stock parts and either selling or just be happy with baby tunes

You will get over it. I have a stock work truck and it don't bother me to drive it. I do forget how much power my truck has though.

I've been planing on what parts I plan on installing on my truck soon with the idea someday it will have twins or triples with 1000hp. Not sure I want it now... Do I want a ticking time bomb that I'm suppose to enjoy driving? Do I want to drop $15k just to have a dependable 600hp+ truck?

bumping this up. Im sure other people are like me and wonder "what ever happened to this or that truck"

I bought this truck from phil towards the end of last year. This past week after hours me and an employee threw a 330k junkyard engine in it, an went racing this weekend at a local event. Friday we got to test and truck went 12.65@105 on the first past. Saturday i developed a fuel leak i guess from actually driving the truck (one of the return lines down the frame started leaking from rusting through) So i got shut down early saturday. Current setup is bone stock engine stil has egr with a blocker plate, a trans i built with spare parts out of old refreshes that id done, stock cp3, stock turbo, stock injectors etc on fuel only. Have some bigger plans for it soon, just needing to find time to do it over the next few weeks. But she will have an easier life now from when phil had it lol.

I will keep this thread updated as i move along with the truck.

Beings it was gutted when phil had it (no heat or ac)-yesterday at the track was 105 degrees so this morning i put a condenser and evaporator back in and lines on it and gave it a charge so I wont die of a heat stroke driving it :D

When Phil bought it and originally was having issues it’s how we became friends because of his posting on this forum and saw he was 20 min away. I rode with him when he took it up Evan as well which also made that friendship ironically enough.

So all the butcherness is really gone from it as I bought it as a roller.

I go back through this thread occasionally and just shake my head.

All told, after selling off the majority of the parts and the roller, I'm about even on purchase price and the new trans I had to put in it after the first thousand miles. So I didn't make out too bad in the end. Buying this truck turned me off of the diesel performance game big time. I still have my other lly, same setup it's always been, but have no desire to go to the track or even push it on the street. Honestly it was my fault for buying the truck, I put my faith in another person and they let me down big time. I have bought other trucks and a few boats the same way and it always worked out great, I guess I was just due to get screwed.

I am glad that Logan bought the roller and is putting it to good use. I do feel the truck could have tickled 9s with the setup I had in it. I never had a truly big tune in it and it only ever made a handful of passes under real power and with heavy wheels at that.

As far as the original owner, I have not spoken to him since the day I took the truck to Evan's and made this post. I'm sure he looks back at this and laughs that he got one over on me, and that's fine, these things have a way of coming back around in due time.

Ohhh gonna have to read through this one. Sounds fun... funny that sparks talked about not ever selling his truck, but it sold at cars plus a few months ago

This past weekend went up to PA to the buck motorsports dirt drags. I made it to 8th place in semi finals out of 61 trucks that night. I was rather impressed that a tune only truck was beating some of the trucks with 100+ more hp (rules are basically must be stock turbo, no n2o, single cp3, and whatever injectors) Between having good launches and cutting the tree down, it worked well. My employee ended up winning the whole event.

So sunday i worked on my suspension a little bit. Cut the shock brackets out and going to do a double adjustable qa1 coil overs without the spring and then do some qa1 adjustable shocks up front. Waiting on the upper bar to get here and get it welded in so i can measure ride height, and order the coilovers.

Glad to hear you ended up not taking a huge loss on it, Phil.
Mr. Dmax711 and Mr Murdock will have karma in the end. I just cant stand jerks who scam others.

What Logan is doing is where Im stuck. :hehe: Wish I could weld like that.

Got the coilovers thursday and got them in on friday. So the competition engineering kit i bought to do the lower mounts worked fine, but the upper kit leaves the crossover bar a little short. The bar they send is 40" long the inside of the frame is 41-3/16". So late friday i ran to my buddies shop and he cut me a longer piece and i got it all welded in. Theres 20 different adjustment levels for these (20 on compression, 20 for rebound) and these things WORK. My initial adjustment was a little stiff and i picked up some wheel hop launching (havnt got caltracs on yet).

I started at half way for compression(setting 10) and 3/4 for rebound(setting 15). And it was way to stiff. Truck was unbearable to drive. I lowered it down to 5/compression 10/rebound and rides smoother than it did with the factory shock setup and hooks right up. Even in 2wd, i can tell going WOT from a low speed it hooks up much better with minimal wheel spin where as it used to kill the back tires effortlessly. Ill have to fine tune it once the caltracs are in.

Overall, im happy and excited to see what my 60s will go down to now.

I went to the track wednesday and was able to cut 1.61 60fts. I didnt pull my tailgate off and had some junk in the back seat so didnt go much faster, but did manage a 12.61. Now I have caltracs to put on it and i will go back and see how it does. I ended up running on setting 3 for compression/10 rebound and launched perfect fwiw
