NAPA has a lot of things, I use them for everything on the farm, because its so nice and easy with Prolink and free delivery. But sadly for our engines, its kind of a lost cause unless you want a water pump or fan clutch. The rest is mostly Gm parts, even all of those stupid ridiculously expensive o-rings, you can try to use one out of an o-ring kit but its not gonna work 99% of the time.

Many of the gaskets and o-rings are reuseable as long as they are in good shape.

As for the cherry pickers/engine pullers, if you look closely you will realize that the are all almost the same thing. Mine is from Menards. It was like $120. Its identical to many of the others ive seen. I use it extended all the way out where it is only rated for like 750lbs and pull my motor that way, no issues with it at all. We use it for a lot on the farm, when it cant lift something, the back end of it wil come off the ground first, and thats when you just stack some extra weights on it so that you can keep lifting.

they can handle quite a bit. Just use them with care, and remember to turn the jack realease valve the right way, i screwed this up once and send my motor crashing to the ground.

The 41909 rings...are they cast, moly or chrome?

What grit hone do you guys recommend to use with that set of rings? Just going to deglaze the cylinders.

yea, stand thats what I ment. Thanks.

O engine stand?

I got mine from NAPA. Its a fancy one with a geared dealio to rotate the engine, and its collapseable which is great for storage, but if your like me, it serves as the resting place the the engine 90% of the year anyways.

I think mines rated at 1250lbs but it might be only 1,000. Its pretty shaky when the engines all assembled on it, but i dont get to worried.

James, if you want that Sears one I bought...Ill give it to you. Too expensive to return, and I have no use for it.

Went out and made up my list. Pretty long, but not overly bad.

The pic doesnt tell the tale...the sides are cut straight with a .125 radius edge.

Got the rings today at my local speed shop, Johnson's Speed Warehouse. Perfect Circle 41909 -- $290! :thumb:

Pistons look good Tom, i wonder if that place will ship rings

i was at Dustin shop last night got the front end taken apart. found 2 very nice size pieces of the engine. 1 was 1 x 1 in the other was like 1.5x3.5 both had spots where main bolts went through. cant wait to get her pulled.
