Shameless plug:

This site was started as a way to for me to share info with my friends and customers without getting harrassed or edited.

When we went "public" with it, the flavor pretty much remained the same. While we have moderators, they don't have much work to do. The biggest thing we need moderators for is to give advice on board layout, testing, policies. The vendors don't fight much for a performance board (all boards have that to degree), and we have never had to ban a diesel enthusiast.

I picked Rob, who is a Chevy car guy, to run the software/hardware of the board so that we have a 100% neutral party running things. It has proven to be a wise choice.

I can be a hot-head and an arrogant cuss. Rob helps "detune" me and gives me a reality check.

This board is more a "family and friends" board than it is a commercial venture, and always will be. There are advantages of being a small board, and we want to keep those advantages even if the board grows. So far I think we have succeeded.

You caught that too, huh...

It's one of the 'look at me' pathetic incidents I've ever seen. Here you have individuals not only on other sites but the parent site petitioning TO STOP screwing up of the site with your garbage,OH WAIT, you want me to NOW be a staff member?

Ok about face now well calm the troops and stifle the 'regulars'. Let me help you understand it will be better and get better NOW that I'm on the staff.

AF (which doesn't own it now) isn't going to reverse any advertisement but ONLY increase it over time. It's a plague and the owners have a business plan. SURE for now they allow the staff to allow add blocking devices but it WILL become harder and harder to achieve it and OUT will roll the membership dues which incurs the staff is given pennys in nickles to sell their souls to TELL us it's OK drink the Cool Aid for the sake of the forum!

The more sophisticated the add blockers the more the PAYING vendors get hit. So the OWNERS have to get all the Newbs to pay to have surfing pleasure and hopefully use supporting paying vendors. As new people sign up it will be an option! They don't care about the 'old time' regular members only to stiffle negativity the newbs can see. Don't worry the staff will come to the rescue!

Gimmie a break they should be tar'd and feathered!

Your welcome ,I think.

I'm assuming you have a spin off site from the DP. IMO there are two too many sites these days and for the most part Pat's site was set up and up and running prior to the catastrophe over there.

So in all do respect I stand by what I posted. This site is the CLEAR winner in Duramax Tech.

I'm not arguing over a Duramax Tech site status.

I don't know how many time I need to say this:

My site was started BEFORE the sale out of the Diesel Place, a lot of people seem to think that I started when it sold out, not true.

So why are you hanging out at DTR then, by your statement seems your just wasting your time there then? Or is that just your hangout where you and a few others can stir more worthless crap up and keep adding fuel to the fire?

I'm also not in it to make money like a few others. I charge nothing for people to advertise.

While we allow cross-linking to other diesel sites, please don't abuse it.

Yes, we recently started charging for advertising here. Only Duramax related shops can advertise who have a good reputation. It's about $1.37 a day. We spend about $18/day on direct operating costs, including advertising this site so more folk read the Vendor ads.

This site was founded Aug 2006, but it was running as a small Camaro enthusiast board back in 2002? until it was destroyed by a hacker.

Easy does

You took the time to quote me so I thought you wanted my thoughts. Perhaps I wasn't clear

Duramax Diesel was a first in providing Duramax Tech PRIOR to the catrosphic BS over there and still today remains ahead of the pack so there fore I say he has a good thing going compared to any other information highway.

Not knowing when exactly you started your site I merely assumed you spun off or you would have had a site many many moon cycles ago. Was there any issues over there that caused you to start a site? Sorry you've taken offence to my babbling.

As far as the DTR goes am I wasting my time there? Quite possible I don't believe I'm making many friends there on the staff even though I'm part of it.

If you read into the above about my feelings on 'snakes in the grass' you'll understand. I don't understand HOW you expect a site to grow and support itself when your staff algence is still promonet elsewhere.

If you want further clarification please feel free to shoot me a PM.

I don't see me posting threads to anywhere else, and I don't see me directing members there.

As far as the money, it wasn't directed to you. I don't know what your counting in your $18 a day figure... None of my business either.

I have to defend myself when I'm accused of starting my own forum because of the Diesel Place went sour. I was there before the sell out, just ask Chad! :D

As far as tech. I simply can't afford to build my truck like some people, and the real hot rodders that do that will stay where their at. The day will come to build my motor and other upgrades and this will be the first place I will come for help. This is the most knowledgeable tech site their is for true Duramax runners.

I just posted my response on this matter. I'm not in it to have the highest page ranking, or the most members. I'm looking to have a close community of people that love the Duramax just as much as I do!

Was it ever allowed? I was going to post more videos of Pat and Casper running LSR. But, after the last fiasco I PM'd the Admin at the time for permission since I didn't want to cause any trouble and was told to hold off. Never heard back so I won't be posting videos or pictures over there any longer as not to jeopardize my membership.

One thing I do find funny, back in the day before they had thier video section or youtube was out. I was good enough for the staff to refer people to me host videos for then:(

well... the one hope we had for change to allow the free exchange of information, turned out to be a lot of hot air...

Oh great...what happened now?

Yes it does appear that they are worried of my negativity more so as to other members present staff which very much so includes past plain Jane members that were vocal their and other sites to the changes which have now had an about face and joined the team.

The irony is that NOW they want you to just 'get over it' what is done is done . I find that interesting because for some reason if their name is in green or red they think that they are going to be able to make changes. Wont happen NEVER and I cannot believe that they're that naive or foolish to believe so. More so they just want their name in Green Or Red to be associated with that site no matter the back stabbing to the past and present members it portrays!

You caught that too, huh...

thats what happened...

two conglomerates were combined to form autoforums...the one conglomerate that was not named autoforums bought out the half that was named autofrums..and the new(er) owners/ hostile takeover(ers) kept the autoforum name...the second buyout happened a couple months ago and thats when awd4life and the like disappeared and Admin(Stew) showed up...along with google ads flash banners and between post ads...further depreciating true supporting vendors visibility and increasing their competition...

I saw the writing on the wall when it sold, that is why I did what I did. Screwing Nick out of $1000 in AD Money was priceless, a once in a life time opportunity I took full advantage of.

Was it worth a lifetime ban from the sinking ship, YUP.............:p........... principles can't be bought, you either do what is right and go down fighting for it or you will just be another sell-out, waiting by the table for a few scraps. I don't like to beg, I won't get on my knees or kiss the ring !!!!

You don't see me begging to be let back on or have my old name restored, who cares, it's done, stick a fork in it already, I like to read the drama and the complaining because it sure is funny as hell.

So carry on BACON, you will be better served shoveling SHIT against the TIDE !!!!!

Good Luck,

Well, the WHOIS lookup shows it belongs to Autoforums Inc of Ontario, Canada.

It was also a big Canadian conglomerate. I forgot the name it was posted somewhere in a thread somewhere. If I find it I'll post the name but it began with a C anyway that much I remember.

If it's over there (I think it was) I cannot view as I'm miserable.

Pepp has it right he just didn't post the actual name, maybe he forgot too. :D

Right on about principles can't be bought. I sure miss the days of you and Mr. Cole going at it though!!
