Looks like iwill be having Custom Auto up in Idaho Falls do my engine work and assembly of the short block. If everything goes as planned, I should be able to drop it off 1st or 2nd week of February.

Chatting with them this afternoon he said turn around time is about 4 days...which is fantastic to hear.

Once I pull the engine I will get the wastegate installed as well. That way everything will be ready to go when I get the short block back.

To recap what my engine and trans will consists of...

Engine:
Carrillos
Fingers oval bowl pistons 16:1 .020"
Socal alt firing cam (more than likely a stock profile)
Merchant push rods
ARP main studs
ARP head studs
ATI damper
HD valve springs
Valve job (stock heads)
And depending on overtime I work, a billet flex plate.

Trans: (already built)
Billet input
Billet output
Billet c2 hub
Billet p2 planet
GPZ clutches
Suncoast 1055 converter
And of course the other tricks to hold power...

Fueling will be 100% overs eventually (hopefully sooner than later). Might have to stick with my 30% for now.

I'm getting anxious!

By all means, I'm not saying don't take it to custom. I'm just making sure you are prepared for reality. Custom is a busy, undermanned shop. I'd give a week or two wiggle room. Maybe you could offer to be their pretty little receptionist while they are working on your motor. It would help a lot. I think being interrupted by phone calls is the biggest reason they are slower and leave a few things undone.

If you are going all the way to Idaho just to take it to custom auto have you at least called adrenaline performance (not ATP) they are in shelley, ID and do builds for some big name racers. Pretty sure they do Idaho Robs motors too.

Rob uses Socal now... Not sure if he used adrenaline before or not?

Rob hasn't, but most of the alligator builds are done by Cam, he also does Verlons and used to do Dustin's. Dustin and cam had an issue so he doesn't build for Dustin anymore. I really like Cam. He's done all the work on my standard cab, and I haven't had to re-tighten anything.:thumb: Cam from Adrenaline and James from Custom are Brother in laws.

Why would you spend the money on a cam and not get something that wasn't a stock profile? I can't imagine the price would change much if any for a different grind.

I will see what my options are when the time comes. I saw mark said the 3388af was one of his favorites with no valve reliefs.

I would do that over stock, but you can always have valve reliefs cut if you want.
