It is most likely the firing order that beats the piss out of the crank......a new cam and re-pinning the FICM would be a start.

food for thought. the chevy motors minus the 4/7 swap talk are some great motors that last. and from my personal experience the dodge 318/360 motors put up with insane amounts of abuse. i know there is a lot more to do with this such as main bearing size, rod geometry, etc but here is just one thing to think about.

1 - 2 - 7 - 8 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 3 duramax
1 - 8 - 4 - 3 - 6 - 5 - 7 - 2 chevy gas
1 - 8 - 4 - 3 - 6 - 5 - 7 - 2 dodge gas

Nate didnt you try the altered firing order cam? I thought I had read you couldnt get it to work? I did talk to Chad at EDP about it last year, but he certainly didnt have enough to sell me on the idea

Ya I got one, installed it moved all the wires to change the firing order, long story short they didn't even know what the new firing order was. Tired several ways then said piss on it and got a SoCal cam

Ah man that sucks that your crank went:(. I know the feeling. Had it happen to me too. Now if this happens to me with my built motor I'm jumping off a bridge lol

Good luck getting it back up and running soon:thumb: Seems you have a lot of friends willing to help:thumb:

Are the cylinders on dmax numbered the same as SBC/BBC? Driver side front to back 1357 pass side 2468? I remember sbf was pass side front to back 1234 driver side 5678 and firing order 13726548 for 302ho/351w and 15426378 for standard 302.
