If all goes well I might be ditching the Alli and going with a 4L80E w/ a manual valve body. Any advice on this swap Mike?

4L80E will not hold the tq in 4th gear behind the alli in a full size truck.

X2, the only times I had sloppy shifts was when I would try different tunes out. The ECM tunes I run have matching TCM tunes to work together.

Sure wish I could figure out how to do this....... I do know when it is done correctly, it makes a world of difference!!
Personally I don't think there is anything wrong with the trans until you start messin about in the 750hp + range. Up to that point there are plenty of parts and upgrades you can do to help it be somewhat reliable.

Yeah my buddy Jake talked me out of the 4L80. Looks like I might be stuck with the alli. I really cant bitch, it has held up for 130,000 miles in stock form with a Transgo Jr. Need to get it built and tuned so I can bump up the hp a little.
With my billet planet and C2 hub, along with input output shafts and proper tuning; the Alli stands a greater chance of living under extreme power.
Any reason why a guy can't simply hack his firewall and trans tunnel and swap in a 3000 or 4000 with the WTEC controller?
