you still need the Tech 2 for older vehicles.

Initially their plan was to completely replace the Tech 2 with the MDI, but now it looks like they might not "back-date" the MDI, and require the dealers to keep the Tech 2's around for older vehicles, and use GDS/MDI for only the new vehicles with the mid-speed GMLAN bus.

Ah! I wonder if he has done any mileage testing? My best is at 64-65 mph max. I test drove an LTZ, and it has guts. What is holding me back is I just paid mine off in July, but there is also no more warranty. So, so I buy the new one, or fix up mine? I also need to know about how the seats feel after an hour straight.

The MDI has a "Tech 2 View" that isnt completely functional on all vehicles as of last time I checked. It basically gives you a tech 2 on your screen while using the MDI. GDS will never be back dated. It is a huge program that GM so far has no plans on getting rid of the Tech 2 on pre-"Global A" vehicles.:thumb:
