Sheldon is the character from "The Big Bang Theory" that you have as your avatar pic so I believe he is referring to you.

Ahh ok. Ive never seen the big bang theory, and someone else made that avatar for me, so I was all sorts of confused...!:

Ben is totally Sheldon:roflmao:

Alright so I just looked up "sheldon" and the Big Bang Theory on wikipedia.

So apparently if Im "totally sheldon", that means I have an IQ of 187, I have some ugly girlfriend, I have no understanding of sarcasm, and I got my PhD when I was 16.

Sounds like he and I might as well be the same person; we seem to have everything in common. Good job simon.

Thanks guys, and thanks Chris! Maybe some of your ET's will still be in them ;) lol. The color is a custom mix candy over Bimini blue. I ordered the whitest white possible for the stripes on the hood. I took a stock D-max hood, and fabbed a 4" cowl from Jegs onto it. Not going to buff out the clear until its all wrapped up and done, just incase I nick it with something. The truck started out as a long bed EC 2x4. I chopped the rear of the frame behind the back window, boxed it in, moved the new rails in 8" on each side and made a 2x4 back half with an 8" c notch, braced with cm tube and made it into a short bed. I narrowed the stock diff 16", and welded the axles to the pumpkin. The rear is four linked with DA vari shocks from Alstons. I had custom 16"x16" beadlock rims made for the 33x17-16 Hoosiers. The front is converted to coil over with a 6" DJM drop, set at 8". The frame sits 4" from the ground at ride ht. Working on getting the cage done this weekend so I can get a cert. Motor is pretty much built, just gotta get the 14mm studs and injectors headed this way from Guy. Trans is a Hughes XP5 glide with lockup conv. And a custom race GV drop box, and elect. Shifter. I should be getting the Trans stuff some time next week, they called yesterday and said everything was ready.

I have more pics from a few wks ago below.. I've been slacking in taking pics lately, but will take some more when I get the cage wrapped up. I do need to get a shaft made, but will figure that out once everything is in place. The XP5 is a direct fit, it's got a 1" mid plate between the Trans and motor to allow for the lockup conv. I had an option of std., CO2, and elect. For the shifter. I went the elect. Route since the GV is elect. As well, and I didn't want to be filling bottles. Hughes had it custom made. Having an issue with custom length axles.... Before I narrowed the diff I asked Yukon if their 38 spline package could be any length as they stated, and they said yes no problem... Now that I'm ready they are telling me that they can only make them 2" shorter then stock, and the spool is discontinued.. Wtf lol. They said I needed to do a google search and see if anybody might have one laying around, I was not impressed. I called Dutchmen and they can make me axles at a great price... Now just gotta find a spool. Im talking with a vendor on their thoughts, but have not got a direct answer wether they can do a package or not.

I went co2 shift and now hear that its not been working to consistent.

1" mid plate is sweet are you going to also bolt that to the frame and run solid motor mounts? If so make sure you make room to get the starter in place:D

The mid plate is only to provide space between the trans and engine for the extra thickness needed for the lockup portion of the converter. It's not "Mount" mid plate like your thinking, but that would be nice... hmmm, maybe next season, im running out of time lol.

What is the problem running co2. That is all we run an have never had a problem with it being consistent. We did have problems with electric but we didn't run an alt either so at times if rounds got too quick the battery wouldn't charge enough to shift with the motor running. If the motor wasn't running it would shift all day long.

Gotcha.....I had to do the same thing just ended up buying a mid plate and cutting it out for the bellhousing i bought from TCI

I would like to find some metric studs for the trans to motor.

chris aliston has some nice crossmembers if your looking

I heard it was mostly the ACD that was being inconsistent....Wont know until i try it

What kind of delay box are you running. Run your shifter off of it and you won't have a problem. We run the k&r pro cube in the dragster and the biondo 450 in the firebird. We did have trouble out of a deaden bear

have you tried Moser for the spool and axles? Right in Indiana and good people to do business with.

Moser was not interested. People think im bs'n or something when I tell them what I'm doing with the truck and need. Dutchmen was the only company that said yes so far. When you say diesel and race in the same sentence people get confused it seems...

that's unfortunate. I had no trouble ordering my axles from them.

I know what you mean about shops not understanding diesels. I talked to another shop about some parts and they asked if I was stacking chips and running propane  They were concerned that I had a "high horsepower truck" if I had those mods done

Good luck on your build! I love the color choice. Looking forward to seeing it completed and out on the track

It's a 1500 bumper cover from a company called xenon. I had a hard time getting it because they said it is discontinued. There is no bumper, just a skeleton made of 3/4" square tube.
