Damn Simon, my heard sank when you spoke the dreaded "H**d gasket" words! I really hope its the water pump. It worked fine before you had it apart though, didnt it?
I know you said you finally got it into 5th before it got hot, so I'm assuming you havnt beat around on it enough to even blow a gasket yet. Good luck!

water pump is new oil cooler is stock
what makes me think water pump is no pressure on the heater hoses and no heat in the cab
i just got the water pump off the spare motor and 1/2 of my truck apart

I dont get it the pump is fine? not spun on the shaft
we took a heater hose off another truck just to verify that there should be pressure on the heater hose into the cab and YES there isa pressure there
something is restricting the flow???
im not sure what to do now?
Man, you're gettin beyond my knowledg scope now! This sucks! I suppose you have to start tracing back. Radiator flows through ok? Flows to thermostats ok? Radiator return?

all i can say is GAY
Take a temp gun to one side of the heater hose and its 97c the other side is 65 ....its not circulating
took it fro a drive and as soon as you get on it WHAM overheat
