bought myself a porter cable buffer polisher ... an some crafts man tools

The PC gets great reviews and is priced great. I'm going to pick one up sometime in the near future. I kind of worked backwards, got the PE14 Flex rotary and 3401 VRG Flex Forced DA first, the PC is appealing to me for reaching some tighter spots or reaching across long spaces one handed as well as the light stuff like spreading wax or sealer. The Flex is a little to powerful to run at full arm extension and it is a bulkier machine. I like the idea of using the Cyclo brushes on the PC for carpets and such as well too.

Finally took a pic of the polishers I've acquired lately. The Dewalt 849X is used only for aluminum/ss polishing. The Flex's stay on paint. The Flex rotary does not spin fast enough for metal polishing and the DeWalt has a little more power. I like the bale handle on it as well since the metal buffs are run on edge. The Flex is much quieter, lighter and smoother otherwise though and I wouldn't want to put that thing through the abuse of metal polishing. It's nice to be able to have seperate machines. Avoids cross contamination.

I just had a few of the Menzerna compounds I acquired so far lined up on that shelf as well. The rest of the stuff is stored away in totes. Kind of just did the bookshelf for the picture. Going to add FG400 as well as Power Finish to the Menzerna collection and a couple more scents from Chemical Guys. The one on the shelf is "Stripper Scent", everybody loves it in our stuff, but you gotta change it up from time to time or it gets old/overwhelming.

Some day I'll get a picture of the whole collection of pads, MF's, chemicals, etc.

BurnDown, a couple of Cat's engineers were here yesterday, I forgot to mention they torqued the bolts too tight but if I run into them again I will make sure to put in your 2c.:thumb:

I would rather have a customer call and cuss me because a bolt was to tight and a sob to get out, than have a bolt fall out cause I was a tenderfoot and used a torque wrench. Take em right to the point of snapping and bump it one more time:D

Which leads to my new purchase, new snappy MG1250 and my little 1/2 drift pin punch. That impact is an animal! If someone works behind you they better have the same gun or a stout 1":woott:

How do you like the Menzerna? I run a PC7224XP with lake country pads and just got a DW849x but still learning how to use it. I've been using the Meguiars 105, 205 combo, then i'll top with Klasse All in One and pinnacle sovern or another sealant,

I wouldn't say Im a pro and dont have experience with other products but I like working with the Menzerna and feel all of them do a very good job.

Ill probably get some M105 & M205 to compare it though.

I am really on the hunt for a snap on L78. If anyone has a line on one, let me know.

Here's a pic for reference

That's the biggest damn ratchet I have ever seen:baby::thumb:

I'd say I want one just because, but I don't want to know how much it costs and I would never use it, probably can't even lift the damn thing:roflmao:

Im not a pro by any means either, some of the turn arounds those guys do on autogeek is amazing. I'm not bad with the PC but the Rotary can get you in a lot more trouble so i'm taking that one slow. Well i've had good luck with 105/205, I like how versatile they are, i've used them on everything from stainless to fiberglass to headlights. But I hear good things about menzerna too.:thumb:

Yes it is, never knew so much went into a good paint correction but at the same time now that I have the tools, products and some more knowledge I actually enjoy it because the results are so impressive and require much less effort. Im a big fan of working smarter and not harder.

I used to be terrified of the rotary buffer, everybody instills the fear of god into you. I just decided to buy it one day for whatever reason. We have a ton of equipment that I practice on around here that does not matter as much of it gets screwed up. I cant say I've really run into much trouble with the rotary yet. I think all of the fear just helps you to concentrate at first and learn what to feel and look for. I like the rotary because it fits my motto. Even though any machine polishing is faster than by hand, I still dont want to sit there all day machine polishing, the rotary speeds it up a lot, but requires a little more attention.

I havent found ny favorite pad combos yet really. I have the LC MF pads for both the rotary and DA, also have a lot of their CCS smart pads, their hydrotechs seem to be popular, may try some of them. I got the interchangeable backing plate with the 3401 as well.

Once I get a little more experience I think Ill start comparing other products to the menzerna. Dont think I can really compare things well right now. I'll be honest, one of the main reasons I chosr the Menzerna was due to it being German. Me n my German stuff, dont know what it is but it always ropes me in. It also seemed like 90% of the people used Meguiars, I like to be different that the crowd. Menzerna seemed to be well liked but not talked about as much, lead me to believe it was like a lot of German products, not popular among the masses, but superior in performance. Kind of like Wiha, Knipex etc. If not for the internet many never would have heard of them. The one thing that worries me about Menzerna was that it seemed to be more of a professional product that would be a bit hard for a newb to work with.
