Still trying to figure out how you can have drought conditions next to a river.

Drought is almost purely subjective to avg percipatation on a sliding 30 day calendar to a said area..

Most of Ohio avg just under 2" of percipatation throughout the year. Northern Ohio a long the lake is generally higher..

Also Ohio River is generally 2-300' lower than most the places indicated in red

I've nerded out on rainfall collections stuff..

Adding to that, the river valley actually provides some frost protection in the spring. Along with some different snow patterns over the winter. But this drought spell is unusual for us. Typically we just have to deal with rains to the north mucking things up..

Happy anniversary Dozer!

Speaking of opening dove season, same for us on the 1st. Where I live, there is a whoooole lot of open desert around us. It’s funny watching the fb page of all the hunters going out and shooting a 1/4 mile from homes (perfectly legal) and some new city slicker calls the police about people shooting by their house. Warden comes out, checks licenses, shakes their hands and says “have a good hunt!” And back to shooting they go.

That's probably a former Californian...

Dove hunting was mostly a bust. Felt like I was shooting blanks. Don't know wtf was going on with me that day. Part of me wants to blame my shotgun as I shot a shorter shotgun than last year but that feels like a cop out.

Oh well. Lots of good food and good times were had.

I found a little 1st car for my daughter over this Holiday! Nothing fancy, but the history is cool. Owner got it from Dad when he gave up his license in his mid 90's. Son drove it for 2 years before retiring and sold it to us. Dad was a Navy flyboy and son was also Military. All service records. Fastidious about keeping it in perfect repair, clean, and not abused. Dad told him it's never seen over 65mph so you drive it the same... son admitted quietly to me that he saw 70 twice, LOL. The USAA HALF CENTURY MEMBER bumper sticker did it for me! LOL. 2006 Scion XB. Interior and underside are as-new; garage kept. Some parking by feel marks and the leading edge of the hood is chipped from stones. Kidd is over the moon, but it is a bit early. She doesn't yet have her permit. Soon enough!
