Found a company that makes the closest thing we can get to a roll bar kit , It is actaully for a mid 90's chevy truck , but after doing some measuring I think it will fit , i ordered mine today and I guess we will see how well it works in one of our trucks . the cost was really good at 434.90 and still havent found out shipping cost , that is a 8 point roll bar with the removable door bar option . here is the atachment for the sizing specs on the bar . this shows the 10 point cage and after measuring i dont think it will work , but the rear bar and peices look like they should be close . here is a link to the Bar .

I have bought from them before they were 45 mins from the house. The fits are not the best. Might of made out better with one from jegs or summit racing. Next one we do for the car will beca chris alston.

FYI Im looking into producing a weld-it-yourself cage kit for 99-07 Reg and Ex cabs. Not sure on the finished date though. After thats out and its successful we will do crew cab and look into necessary changes for LMM.

Henry I dont think a roll bar could bite you too bad on fitment , now full cage maybe .

Some one needs to Matt , if you were ready I would be calling you with a CC tomarrow :D

Trent, I was an S&W dealer for 15 years. If they are still the same you will be happy. :)

Good to know Rick , I hope the design works OK for our year trucks for the price it would be a pretty sweet option for alot of guys who dont have 2k to drop on a custom bar.

Who is going to actually be designing them/building them though?

just an observation from a nobody.
but......
Why whould you go with a cheap kit, that may or may not be adequate enough for those big trucks?

you all seem to have LOTS invested in those nice trucks, and a very nice, custom cage would prob cost......i dunno, maybe $1000-$1200 for a top of the line Chromoly cage, and way less for a mild steel.....
Im just saying....ive seen what it cost to build these trucks and parts, Wouldnt hurt to drop some good coin into something that would protect you?

Ive just became more cautious about personal cage protection from recent accidents this past year

This isnt a " cheap " cage , it is built out of the required material , and meats NHRA specs and is being used by alooot of racers . and you are not even close on the cost , try 2k for just a DOM roll bar , never even checked a chromolly , or a full cage . I will start out with a roll bar and maybe mid season ore next year i will add the halo and windshield bars and get cerified to run 9's , if the truck is even fast enough to justify it . Not sure what isnt safe about a NHRA speced roll bar , racing seats , 5 points harness's , helmat , and fire suit ?

Who made that blue bar set that McRat ran in his truck before his new landspeed spec bars? That seemed to fit well when I looked at it at the DHRA event here in Texas when they ran 10's.

Every Duramax that i have ever seen a roll bar with , they have been custom made / bent and designed around the truck . I could be wrong , maybe Pat will chime in . I am not aware of any company that make a roll bar or cage for a 99-07 chevy truck , if some one knows of one please post up.

i didnt mean to come off like your cage wasnt safe, and equipment wasnt good.
But do the "Kits" even concider the weight of the truck? mounting positions?

Ive seen where the kit doesnt even sugest to tie into the frame,

Yeah, it will give you protection, but will it with stand a 7000lb truck rolling over 5 times.......Unlikely chance you will, but ultimatly its what you need to be prepared for.

I come from circle track and some off road racing where, just cuz it fits, doesnt mean its right,

Just questions is all im asking, dont he a hater:thumb:

QUOTE]

In order to meet NHRA specs , all eight points must mount to the frame , and the kit is model specific for a truck . not so sure what is different about this kit compared to any other truck in the country i have seen with a roll bar , the design is the same as any other custom bar i have seen made . I apreciate the input but why not wait to see the final product before you judge on the merits of its safety ? how can a propper assesment be done other wise ? other than because the work "Kit " is in the sentence instead of "custom "

hey, im sure it will turn out good.
and dont get my "questions" confused with me assesning your truck. I have no doubt you have the proper experiance to make it all work legal to NHRA and safely

You have proven you know your stuff on here, thats not the question,

I guess i should have asked differntly, but nevermind,
Good luck with the build

I wasnt trying to argue , and i must have taken it the wrong way  just get frustrated when people shoot down new idea's before they have even have a reason too .
