I ordered the single adj QA1s for the front and some generic DJM lowered shocks for the rear (both from Summit). I will get these installed and then the truck will probably be down for a few weeks while it gets some cage work done.

Great thread, although so many part numbers floating around I'm a bit confused. As far as Max'd Out goes, we have QA1 double adjustables on the front Rancho 9000 on the back. Have airbags in as well, but as Jeff stated earlier, really not what we're looking for, they will come out, worked best when totally deflated. I probably did the hardest 4x4 boosted launch ever done in a full body 6000 lb Dmax (over 50 psi) and although the 60's was total crap due to all 4 tires going up in smoke, the truck launched straight with little or no massive weight transfer or any side to side loading and unloading. Will install double adjustable QA1 in the rear this week, take out the airbags, the 9000's and probably more springs. Need to replace the front differential as well since I stress cracked it on the John Force burnout.:D I know this truck has a 1.3x 60' in it, probably not on the drag radials but for sure on the slicks.

The 06 EC/SB I'm building, (engine going in next week) will run double adjustment QA1's in the front and the 9000's in the rear we're taking out of Max'd Out, (thats if I didn't ruin them). It should be on the track at least in Medford and for sure in Boise in Oct. I'd have it in Woodburn on the first of August, but I'm driving Max'd Out at that race. Might end up selling this truck if we build a 2 wheel drive Pro-street truck this winter. I think the 06 will ultimately run in the high 10's. Will be a very nice truck.

Ken do you want a 32 year old son and a grand daughter thats 19 months lol.

Nathan and Rob said about the same thing, :D I'm just trying to do my part for this crappy economy. When you are young you were taught to save for a rainy day. It's pouring. I'd rather spend it than give it to our Goverment and watch them piss it away, especially the current bunch that are in there.

Ken, what you, Rob and Nathan are doing helps all of us whether you know it or not. When you guys test parts, its at a maximum level, so your results and findings help determine if a part/procedure actually works for the rest of us. Your efforts are always appreciated.

I got the bushings ordered. We'll see what we see when they get here. May as well tack on another $15 to the cost of the shocks, I guess.

Question: Would adding limiting blocks under the bumpstops on the rear axle help at all? Darius gave me a couple 2" steel blocks for that purpose, and I never installed them.

I have mine set at 1" while im at the track. It feels like it hit's harder, and does not allow all the front weight to transfer as much to me. I also cut half of the rubber off the stop. It's been good for 1.62's

So are you guys running any kind of traction bar out back? Or just the qa1s? I would think when springs get removed clamping the springs wont work anymore and a bar would be needed.

About time, they're finally installed. I have no idea what to set them to for the street, so I'll start at "6" and go from there.

I posted it in my other thread, but ill post it in here too, i love mine! They are well worth the money dropping my 60' from 1.75 to 1.66 on street tires. The 1.75 was with bilstiens. Thanks Trent for the good find, and the help on the settings!

You running the doubles or single adjustables? Care to tell what settings you used on the shocks

Sweet Tom , let us know what you think .

The sleeve I bought worked perfectly. Drilled the bushing out to 3/4" and pushed the sleeves right in. Perfect length, too.

I turned the shocks down to "5" after a drive up to the store of about 3 miles. "6" was perfectly adequate, but just a tad stiff. I tried to hit some bumpy roads, and they worked just fine...kept the truck firmly in control. Im just used to the Bilstein soft ride, I guess.
I'll run the "5" tomorrow to work, then turn them down to "4" on the drive home and see if I notice a difference. They'll work on the street just fine.
I think "12" would be like having solid shocks if the adjustments follow the same curve. Im definitely looking forward to running these at the track. They very well could be the pieces I was missing. Now I understand why the Ranchos always seemed to be the shock of choice for racing.

Now lets convince QA1 to revise that lower mount to 9/16", and we're golden.

Say....on those 1539P rear shocks.....are the mounts the correct size for our trucks, or do we have to "fix" them too?

Also, did you guys leave the shocks "bare" or did you buy the sleeves to cover the rod, like the Bilsteins have?

Thanks Trent for your trailblazing on these.
