I Was Told The Ppe Race Valve Will Cause Your Milage To Drop. Is This True? How Much? Who Is Running The Valve And Who Is Running The Shim Kit?
Any Info Would Be Great

Well I have the valve but cannot install it as it's impossible to remove the Glow Plug Bracket..

I have a Feb. 04 built LLY and TxChristopher also has an early built LLY and it seems they made a mid-year switch of these brackets as well, becuase it basically impossible to remove the damned thing short of cutting it off with a cutting wheel.. It's about 1/8" plate with 1/4" mouting tabs!!!

I have been to the dealerhsip and am currently trying to retrofit my older bracket with the new one!!! If that doesn't work, i'm attachign tit ot he firewall or something.

Your 05 should have the NEWER BRACKET with bolts that go thruthe bracket and not under it liek we have!!

II have never heard anything about Fuel Mileage loss, but perhaps it's becuase people are able to run the higher tunes since they don't 1093 anymore, hence more skinny pedal and less mileage!!!

Shim Mod for Blue. Not sure what is in Casper.

But I don't think it would have any effect on the mileage.

i did the shim mod on my 05 LLY and it was a bear to get the vavle turned out but after it was out i had it back on in about 5 min.s and it took 15min.s to get the glow plug bracket back in place..the way i had to do mine was use a open end wrench with a rope tied to it and have a guy hold the wrench witch was my job and then have 2 guys pull on the rope and pray that you don't strip the valve nut..oh before i foget you'll have to take a open end wrench from the backside to take the glow plugg bracket loose and let me tell you it takes awhile to take that little cuss off..

ya it took like hour and 10min.s from start to finish and that was my first one so if i can do it most people can..oh and make sure you use the right wrench and take your time to it because you don't want to strip that nut but you can put some weight to it before it strips..

I agree, I had my glow plug modual off then came that ignorant bracket. I was able to get the (2) bolts lose underneath but decided not to take it off because I would not be able to get the bolts started without some modifications done. Funny that you need to have a bracket that beefy for a feather weight part? If I start to have problems (P1093) then I will just cut it off and weld it back up if needed.

I had mine shimed but i had to take it out to install the 2nd cp3, i figured it wouldnt be so bad since i had it out once befor...............Boy was I wrong, i actually think it was tighter the second time around!

AS soon as i get a free min./ hour im going to install my old shimed valve in my wifes 04.5, and from the sounds of it im not gonna like the glo plug bracet, i cant imagine it being any harder then the 05 but if it is i may have to get the SAWZALL out!!!!!!!!

I have a thread in the PPE Forum on what the older brakcet looks like and the new one as well... TxChristopher also has a thread with how he cut his out!!! I am trying to simply buy the newer bracket and retro-fit ti onto mine!!!

Mileage is still the same for mine.

I was lucky to get my bracket out of the way, I'm not sure when mine was built but it was definately a task to get to the valve. My valve was actually the easiest part of the whole thing.

I'm definately a supporter of going with the race valve instead of shimming. It's a faster install and has proven to work on many trucks.

ATS kit, It plumbs into the back of the drivers side rail and has a new valve in a junction block. Same here it was the longest and hardest part of the install, it took me about 2 hours to get the valve out trying manydifferent ways and tools, the SOB was just downright tight!!!!!!!!
