I ordered the Duramax compression tester adaptor today. I guess I'll know next week how the compression is :D

It will be interesting to see what compression test says.

I have an Lly and last winter would get a lot of smoke. Changed one injector that was similar to your 3.7 one and it helped a lot. Changed another injector about 2 months ago and no smoke this year.

Mine hazes some on first start up but I don't have the fuel heater or IAH hooked up. I hope its not rods....

I have 2 lb7s. One is my street truck that I'm talking about in this thread(specs in sig) the other one I use just for pulling. The puller has no fuel heater no intake heater and glow plugs are disabled. I fired them both cold at the same time the other day(puller took a couple extra cranks) and the street truck was smoking so bad I could barely see the front of my house and not even a puff out of the puller. So i think it's gotta be internal?

I just wanted to get back to you from our talk in your other thread about this. Remember I told you I was going to run some 2 stroke oil through my tank? Well I put about 10 gallons of fuel in, and 8oz of cheap 2 stroke oil, and it appears to have helped out A LOT. I drove my truck to work yesterday as it was under 30 outside yesterday morning and just out of sheer curiosity after your last thread (had my worried a lot). I had a decent cloud of white/blue smoke on startup, and ran rough for total of 3 seconds and then was perfect. No smoke, no nothing. I wish I had a video of my truck this past weekend. I started my truck to take it out with my buddies, and when they were coming down my road, they said it looked likea forrest fire:woott:! Really nad smell of raw fuel as well. I mean this thing was smoking real bad and smelled like a diesel fuel spill. Just wanted to give you something to work with.

I have made it a habit to use 2 stroke oil and Stanadyne in every single tank of fuel. whether its in my truck or in Jon's truck, It helps a lot. Less smoke and a little better mpg. Also found it to lessen the lope caused by a worn out FPR

Cool thanks. Ever since my twins on my race tunes and the cold temps I get alittle white smoke now till I warms and wanna see if it clears it up. Smaller tunes don't smoke at all.

Mine did the same thing last winter but I attributed it to a bad tank of fuel, there was a ton of water in my system and the temps were getting into the teens. Once I got everything taken care of it was much warmer and the problem was not aparent. This winter I have noticed the white smoke on startup again but much less and not every day. The only thing I have not checked is the compression, but I do think about this all the time.

Hopefully you just got busy and didn't find anything on the right side. I returned my ECM to stock and haven't seen any smoke at all yet. After I returned to stock I got pulled over about 10 min. later, totally forgot about the speedo calibration. Luckily he was an understanding type of cop. :eek:hgeez:

Phew. The past two days I have really been looking at my options and this is definitely one option. Any other ideas?

why is this the second thread you are trying to spam with that link to www.newgmengines.com??? Its not even a duramax, its an 8.1.

Buy a engine new from GM? You've got to be kidding me. Only idiot suckers who dont know anything about trucks/dmax's take their trucks to the dealer and tell them " ", pay for NEW engines from GM...

Maybe I am being a dummy here, but it looks like there is no reason to do the other side. You have a bad hole at 360psi, or was that a typo?

No typo. I only want to do the other side just to see. Plus it's not really hard to check.
