Brand new LML on the left, and brand new 17-19 L5P on the right.

From what I’ve seen of pictures, the 2020 cooler looks to be about that much bigger again over the 17-19 cooler. Plus they have the coolant outlet offset from the inlet to promote more even coolant flow through the housing across the cooler.

If the block didn't physically change in terms of outlet locations on the 2017-2019 vs the 2020 I don't see why the 2020 wouldn't work on older engines if the 2017-2019 cooler did.

I guess I could always go into CAD and look at it and see whats up between LML and L5P.

I would be very surprised if they changed anything in the mounting or coolant/oil connections from 19-20, and from what I could tell in the pictures/video comparing the 17-19 and 20 model coolers, they look like they are interchangeable.

So it seems like all we are waiting for is a guinea pig of sorts to buy one and see how it goes.

Stopped in the dealership I buy my oem parts from to get a part I needed, and I talked to him about the cooler and adapter elbow. I got part numbers, but they are unsurprisingly not available yet. He said usually around the time the trucks start showing up on dealer lots, parts will be available. He said probably sometime in June.

I'll be keeping an eye out for that to try on my truck later this summer. I picked up some temperature sensors and wiring, so I'll be able to report how much it helps. But of course it'll be a while.

Thanks for the part numbers!

The new cooler is even wider and instead of exiting out the same way with the factory elbow back by the mid plate, it now exits closer to the oil filter (promotes better coolant cross flow across the heat exchanger I believe) so you would need a new elbow with the new oil cooler

I’ll be getting one as soon as they are available. I already have an oil temp gauge on my truck, and I will be curious to see how it helps. I typically see at least 30 degree warmer oil temps unless it is very cold outside. I see oil temps in the 210-220 range pretty much all the time with coolant temps around 180-185. If I can keep oil temp closer to coolant, I’ll be happy. Those temps are running truck only. With a load, it isn’t unusual to see 240-250 oil temps, and coolant can get up past 220. I usually start backing out of it once oil starts getting up over 250.

Wow, forgot how hot oil temps get without an external cooler.

I don’t back down till 270* or more as usually coolant is up at 245* by then. I run full syn oil come summer though

I hope the L5P cooler helps some... My buddies Deleted 19 L5P hit 249-250 towing at 28k gvw and 70* air temp. Warmer than I was hoping for the outside temperatures.
