Oil change!!!

Im changing the oil in my truck for the first time tomorrow. My friend that I bought it from always paid the dealership to do it and dont know what kind of oil they put in it. I dont need that info I just need to know a few opinions on whats the best!!!!!! I thought Rotella or Decron perhaps, any good thoughts?

Im on my 7th diesel 3 dmaxs and used Rotella in all of them. No complaints.

I have always run Delo 400. It's not synthetic, but it has yet to let me down. Oil analysis says that after 12k miles the oil is still good to go, but that's where I change it because I am a chicken.

Delvac has had some really good results with our trucks. I ran Delo 400 for 16K and it was still doing good per analysis. I haven't been very impressed with Rotella, but its not a bad oil.

My whole family uses rotella in all their diesels so thats what ive always used and it hasnt failed us yet, i guess its just a family tradition though lol

I run John Deere oil.

PF2232 is the ACDelco oil filter number...I think it is listed elsewhere on the site though.

Knock-on-wood, the John Deere +50 is working well. One convenient thing is it's available in a 2.5 gallon jug.

Yes, PF2232 is the number for the ACDelco (GM) oil filter.

There used to be an oil thread on here before...I'll try to search for it.

My truck has had ACDelco filters since mile 1. After 270k miles, I'd say they are a safe bet. Plus, they are now available at a lot of auto parts stores for cheap (well, cheaper than the dealer).

AutoZone has them for $8.59
O'Reilly has them for $8.49

So really whichever you happen to walk into, as they are only 10 cents different in price.

Edit: some vendors on here might sell them in bulk. Actually, if one does, could you PM me with a price for 10 or so?
