Actualy, my truck is not even up here. I pulled a truck up to ATS for a trans install, the truck i pulled it up with is a 06 cummins and it need to be looked at too. ATS had the trans in the truck in one day and replaced the U-joints since they found the joints were bad. They found the problem with the Cummins too. If you must know, dropped my motor off for a full build, im looking at rods, pistons, heads, cam, dual cp3's and large sticks. As soon as it gets done i will come out to Cali so we can play.:D

ATS has addressed the issues they have had with the delam in the past. That is old news that people keep bringing up. I dont see anybody from ATS bashing anyone on any of the forums?? MikeL called them out and NEVER responded in HIS thread. Lots of people were looking for tech info from both Inglewood and ATS. Who delivered?

The only time i had a ATS trans "break" is when i boosted it up to much and when it started to pull through the brakes i applied more break pressure and the output shaft broke. Other than that, i came up one time for a heat issue that let to a easy fix with the valve body and i came up when my radiator broke and trans fluid went into my trans and wiped it out. ATS could have not warrentied it but they did. And yes, warrenty does mean alot to the "regular" guy.

Just how did they address the issue of the delaminated clutches? They new about this issue and continued to sell them. For a while they were using Alto C1's. What did they do for the guys that had failures? What did they do for my 9 failures that I fixed out of my pocket?

These are issues you will have sometimes when you are a "builder" and not just a installer. As for your questions about your 9 trannies you paid for out of pocket?? I dunno, ill let them chime in and answer.

Apparently NWTDiesel was not around when the problem cropped up, so he is relying on what ATS told him instead of relying what customers have to say.

NWTDiesel also no idea what a warranty is about for normal truck owners.

A) Would you rather have a truck that never breaks down?

B) Would you rather have a truck that breaks down and they give you a bag of parts to fix it, or you have your tow vehicle towed to Colorado to fix it?

My sole daily transportation for the last 5 years has been diesel pickups, and I can tell you as a normal truck owner which one sucks, and which one doesn't suck.

IIRC:

The only time in life I had to have a truck towed anywhere due to a busted transmission was 2 days after I had factory defective ATS parts put into my truck. The converter failed so catastrophically, that it could not be driven. I've owned perhaps 12 trucks over the years.

If ATS quality control was up to par, they could have never shipped 3 different parts (trans clutches, converter, CoPilot) that were all DOA at the same time.

And that's my review. ATS makes some good parts, but their QC is so bad that I will never recommend any of them.

Kansas when I am home
even after all this crap on both sites I still know where my trans is going, and it won't be the builder closest to my place. I would ship that damn thing to Australia if I had too, but luckily my guy is on the west coast:D

Actualy, ATS told me they F'ed up and sold you a bad trans. They didnt try to hide it from me. That was years ago right? That is between the two of you and has nothing to do with me.

Eitherway i would have to tow it to Cali or to Denver to have my trans fixed since i am not a trans tech. ATS has never have given me a "bag of parts" to fix it. Nor have they ever made any threats to me...........They never talk down on me and call me "names" either.

Yes, i do know what a "normal" truck owner wants. What would you like? Suncoast trans do break. Parts failure is going to happen no matter who makes it.
(A) 2 year warrenty

(B) 5 year/ 500 thousand mile warrenty?

All i have driven are diesels since 2003. So what? That makes me a expert? Im not going to say a MikeL trans sucks, but i will say ATS stands behind my trans and has delivered my TC everytime.

Thats fine Pat, they have tons of trans out there that are doing great for people on huge HP trucks. Im sure ATS will live without your business as MikeL will live without mine.

I don't want anyone to think I'm beating the Suncoast Drum and crapping on ATS blindly. Fact is though, that I've never had any Suncoast or TTS stuff that was DOA yet. Yes, I have worn out parts before, both hard parts as well as wear items. But never a catastrophic failure that I can remember.

Keep in mind that I bought my Suncoast stuff and my ATS stuff (and TTS) from Mike L. So this has nothing to do with Mike L. It's just my experience as a consumer and a racer.

X2

I also tell you what sucks and what doesn't suck.

What sucks: Having a relatively unabused "built" trans that takes a dump (My Stage IV did). I did not build it so I cannot speak for what went into it (ATS, Suncoast, Alto, ???, etc.) and I have not been given the reason for failure (there were signs of issues, but have not had a definitive answer yet). It could have been hard parts, builder, circumstances (was in a front end collision that popped the tranny cooler, etc. so I am not pointing fingers). All I know is it had a transgo junior before the build and now has a PI converter (neither of which were causes of the failure and my PI does not rattle).

What doesn't suck: Having guys like Mike L. who did not have a hand in the original build, go above and beyond with support to help me get back up and running again. Mike is 3000 miles away from me, but has been in contact with me and the guy redoing the transmission (Mat at Champion Transmissions  who also had nothing to do with the original build), to make sure my daily driver is rebuilt properly.

Mike may not be perfect (but pretty damn close ), and when it comes to transmissions (especially the Allison), in the many years I have been on the forums I have not seen him mislead, lie, or alter facts about transmission builds. Sometimes tech changes as parts or custom items were not available "back in the day", but at any given moment in time, Mike has spoke the "current truth". People might not like what he has to say, but that's the way it is. At the Spring Fling in 07 Mike was talking to Ben and I and he even stated, he learns new things all the time (which tells me alot about him).

As Jesse James once said, "It's the guys that think they know it all and have nothing to learn, that really don't know much at all......."

Sorry, had to get that off my chest.

Thank you to Mike, Mat, and all the "others" who help the general community out without looking for something in return. I have met many of you in person and many of you just "online", and always feel there is an outlet for me to find accurate tech when needed. I'm learning every day, and luckily have been able to help others in return.

After reading a few threads over there, I ask myself two questions:

Why are Ben, MMLMM, Newly, Mike, Chad and what looks to be a host of other guys I recognize even over there? IMO, that site is hopeless, and if you're a paying vendor/member there, why are you tolerating the Mods acting like they are. Mods arent Gods.

Second: That forum is is also part of AutoForums. Why even bother?

I'm also a bit surprised that Pat and Kat allowed this argument between vendors to move over here. Whats the heck is next?
I thought we were getting away from that shit. Freakin embarrassing....

Why was it even brought up then? It doesn't involve you, so curious why ATS was talking to you about Pats truck from years ago

so,WHATS THE CONCLUSION? pat sounds like a suncoast/tts sales person, newly sounds like a ats salesman, and everything else sounds like the same crap from 6 yrs ago. someone come with something new to bs about! i'm really totally surprised that i dont see trentnell (mikel's friend) posting like evey 2 minutes on how we should do things, and which brands to use
