I’ve always said that to myself before I start a project on one of my trucks and then about half way into it when shit goes wrong, I always tell myself I’m paying for the next one because it’s not worth the hassle and frustration. Local diesel shop quoted multiple thousands to do it but that’s not worth it to me.

I've done all of my underhood work on my trucks for the most part and yeah I've wondered about myself a time or two on what I was doing to my truck and if I was gonna get it all put back together and actually run.

But I just keep on going and everything works out and looking back it was definitely worth it and don't seem that hard anymore. Actually enjoy it and I don't think of myself as a mechanic at all.

Cp3 conversion isn't that big of deal really if you're deleting egr and putting a new y bridge in anyway.

Mine runs really nice now too..

I mean I’ve done a cp3 and a couple turbo swaps before so this was all like deja vu to me besides the lml egr. I really didn’t think anything about this was too hard. I enjoy it and love knowing that I saved myself 2k by doing it myself in 2 days. That’s just more truck fund money lol.

I've already done the EGR delete and a stock turbo replacement. I had access to a hoist so it was a tad easier. Still a bit of a challenge with those firewall bolts. Now I'd would've done a CP3 swap already, but I'm awaiting to see this Spring what the new emissions testing requirements are going to be in my area. I could possibly have to put the crap back on! Argh!

How does a smog shop even know you have a cp3 conversation? Doesn't seem like you could tell real easy and I doub many would even know what they are looking at if they see it.

Is it the tune? If written properly that shouldn't be a problem either

I believe the egr needs to be removed for these kits to work. I think the emissions equipped cp3 conversions allow you to keep the egr in place.

The egr fits with a cp3 but unless are running one of the complaint kits you dont have a line feeding the 9th injector.

So on to the next mod :roflmao: 64mm cover and billet wheel swap on stock lml. Cost is $500. Get me to 650hp?

I've been thinking about doing this also. Anyone running one or have any idea if it's worth it or is it better to just bite the bullet and buy the whole drop in turbo do to them having a upgraded turbine.

I don’t believe my vanes are at 0% wide open so that makes me believe the turbine can still get more air through. I know my modded lly turbo on the lmm would only get down to 40% wide open. I think I’m going to bite the bullet and do it. Woldfab has a 64mm wheel and cover for $499 or dans diesel has a 63.5 cover and wheel for $599. If it gets me anywhere in the 600’s I’ll be happy. Dan has a stock fuel lmm with the cover kit making 620 on the dyno. Lml can obviously fuel more on stock sticks too so may be able to make a little more.
