Seen vids of that last hook over on CompD... sure would been nice to see how you placed if it didn't take 60 ft before it lit!! Are you leaving at a certain temp? Seems like it needs to hang out a little longer to build the fire a little more??? A friend used to battle lighting issues as well and he'd sit at a certain RPM for what seemed like forever and it would finally start building heat and then it would push through the brakes (2nd gear starts) and off she'd go.
That bastage comes to life tho when she does finally light off!!! Holy crap!!
What kind of rpm can you hold at with a 2nd gear start?? How about 3rd?
Are you still running 3.73 gears?
Just curious.
With 3rd gear start i can hold up to around 2800rpms, i didnt pay attention on the 2nd gear start, i was watching my egts. Neither one is enough, i think it needs around 3500+ to light. So most likely i will just start out in 1st next year. The truck has 4.56 gears.
Better carry some extra CVs with you.
Hmm i never thought about that, im assuming its because of trying to stall the converter in 1st? Wakeman starts out in first and ive never seen him break a cv. Im not quite sure what ill do next year for sure, a clutch infront of the allison would be cool.
Would it be legal where you pull?
Not sure, i mean schieds rules said oem trans out of 1 tons pickups, but they let that ford with the cummins/danco pull. I guess it depends on who you are and where your pulling most likely.
Yeah but most rules also state "aftermarket internals allowed". That is left way open to interpretation........
If someone manufactures a kit to put a clutch in front of an ally then it would be an aftermarket component.
That's how they got billet blocks legalized in pro-stock tractor pulling. Someone had enough pull to get Case IH to give a Hyper-max block an OEM part number, (albeit with a HUGE price tag) and voila, they are legal by the way the rules are written.
Any plans for the winter Rob?
Nice well who knows maybe I will actually run into you some time at SJD
