looks pretty sweet. may have to get a triple gauge pod for this. if you could find a way to keep memory when the key gets shut off it would be killer. I'd pay extra for that.

hmmm ill have to look into that. It would require a lot of changes to the software code but I might be able to do it.

The only potential issue I see is that the EEPROM (the non-volatile 'storage' memory in the controller chip, the memory that doesnt get erased when power is shut off) in the controller chip has a limited number of write cycles before it wears out and is no good anymore.

Ill have to check the datasheet on the chip, but I think its somewhere in the thousands of write-cycles. Each time you turn off/start your truck it would 'use up' one of these write-cycles.

So say if you shut down/start up your truck 5 times a day, the DSP-5 switch MIGHT completely die after as little as ~1-2 years.

Alright im still working on the software code to make it remember the last tune you were on.

If I cant get it to work properly, or I think that the EEPROM write-cycles will be an issue as far as long-term longevity, I could program it to start-up on your daily driver tune (instead of stock), or something like that...

So basically, when you place your order, you tell me which tune you want it to default to on startup (stock, 1, 2, 3, 4) and Ill program your module accordingly.

Ben, I know there was some talk about lock up controller being incorporated, is that still happening? Also just wanted to let you know prototype got me pretty excited, can't wait.

why not fab up a pod for it as well like the ones they have for the tuners...would not need to be as big obviously but then you could choose anywhere within reach of the driver or even a little pillar mount?

Alright I just wanted to let everyone know that this is NOT dead at all. Im still waiting for the crimping dies to attach the bezels to the gauge pod housings. :(

As soon as I get those Ill be able to get them up for sale.

The good news is that I now have the controller setup so it will save your current tune setting...so when you turn the truck off, next time you start the truck, the DSP-5 switch will automatically return to your previously selected tune. :D

Didn't bother to read the thread but for the 11.90 NHRDA racers a paddle shifter to adjust the tune on the fly when you are racing would work best The knob works fine, just have to find a more conveniet place then where I have it mounted now. a paddle shifter on the steering wheel would work best.:thumb:

Don't know how I missed this but this is cool as hell Ben!

Any idea of a set price yet? I know I could be in for 2.

That is a good idea. Sounds like Ben has this one about finalized though. However, now that you brought up the paddle shifter, I think that if selecting the dsp5 tune through the DIC with the paddle shifter could be a viable option that would be trick. So, in other words, my truck just has the push knob to find "trip odometer", "hours", and total mileage odometer. If there was the ability to select the fourth option of "EFILive Tune 1 2 3 4 5" and use the paddle shifter to select the tune.

Is this something that is an option, Ben? I know you must have dozens of hours in already with the pod gauge style, but I guess I am just asking on a whim. The thought of it seems trick and would/could likely be way to also help those who are looking to write anti-theft "tunes".

Looks great. I need one for my truck. Is there a way to dim the display?
