haha I thought I was the only person in the world who drove around in tow/haul mode (and exhaust brake) all the time...
I did when I had my stock Lbz turbo...I weighed 9800 so it helped keep the brakes like new lol.

I will say I miss that and the quick spool up of the stock turbo but the egt drop and mpg gain I got from the fixed vein are hard to beat

I can tell you the turbo brake on my LMM will hold 26,000lb @65mph going down a 5% grade in 5th gear. drop to 4th and the truck will slow down rather quickly.
it would not surprise me if I am able to get a wheel skid with turbo brake with an empty truck(no trailer) with a force down shift

The LBZ/LMM turbo definitely is powerful enough to get wheel skid on a snowy road if you force a downshift. Have to be careful chopping throttle going around a corner on a slippery road.

All of the newer trucks with ESC have "engine drag control" algorithm in the ABS module to prevent this though. For example if you have your exhaust brake tuned really aggressively, and tap-down through the gears quickly on a snowy road, if the rear wheels start to slow down more quickly than the fronts (starting to skid), the ECM will actually INCREASE torque a bit (even though your foot is off the throttle) to keep the drive wheels from breaking traction...

Another example is if you are going around a corner in tow/haul mode on a snowy road and chop the throttle too quickly. EDC will hold just a little bit of torque to keep the throttle-drop from making the truck break traction.

I have an lly and lbz, both stock fuel stock motor trucks running the 68mm/71mm fleece vvt. The lly was tuned by Dylan Spink and spools and drives as good or better than stock depending on the tune and condition, the lbz is tuned by Tony and was slightly laggier than stock lbz. Great turbos!

Sweet, that will probably be the charger I get... I'm just not going back together with the s366/.91 t4 charger, don't like it on there, had it on for 4 years and I love the way it pulls on top, tired of lag though.

Just finished install one of the cast versions of this turbo today. I'm very impressed with it! Truck it went on was a bone stock lbz, his factory turbo unison ring froze up and he decided on this turbo over a stock reman.

Only modifications to the truck are 3794, egr plate, and down pipe. Got a tow tune from Mark for it and flashed it in. Other wise truck is factory.

Turbo spools and sounds great! I was actually really surprised how much whistle it has, even with factory exhaust and intake.

Tested turbo brake back to back before tuning it, truck has a stock file in it with no turbo brake programming originally. As normal with no turbo brake tuning you have no turbo brake. After tuning the turbo brake works great, I would say it works better than my stock lly turbo, and as good if not better than my old 68mm on my lbz.

I give it a thumbs up!

New Personal best for the BMW GT3794Va Today!

Here you guys! Update today as I had a truck with enough fuel to actually push this turbo and see what it would do. I was more than impressed to say the least. This was a stock lly motor studded. Has Exergy 100%inj and Dual Fuelers and all the normal bolt-ons with this BMW GT3794Va. On the big tune it made 42psi boost/65psi drive and 1500* egts. This was on 26* @ 2250us at 3,300rpms. It was an animal on the street to say the least!:thumb:

X2. I've been waiting since page one for some info with a s475 or 80.
There is a fellow on duramax forum that is getting a 3794/480 combo. He's got a built motor as well. he's from wyoming as well. Think he's got 40 overs. Think it'll be on in a few weeks

Pretty much identical to what I am planning on doing. Just trying to decide on 65mm BMW or 68mm on the 3794.

56taskforce are you doing whats in your sig^^ 475 over the 3794?

I may go with the 483 but I really don't need that much. I think the 475 can still benefit from the 3794s billet wheel as the center is smaller leaving more room for the 475 to push air.

Another great turbo Mark!!! :thumb:
Looks and sounds really good. If only I could put a VVT turbo on my LB7.

Yellowchevy

You can it's been done you'll just have to use fleece performance turbo brake controller if they still offer it or you could find a used one search vgt lb7 on YouTube unless the vid has been removed I'll see if I can locate it and post if i can figure out how to on this iPad

Twinned up I've seen 950hp out of it with smaller injectors.
Do you recall which compressor wheel it had? The 65 or 68mm? I'm trying to figure out which one would work best for me. A fair bit of towing done with my lifted truck on 35's and trying to keep the lag down as well as smoke.

The 950hp twinned on both trucks was with the BMW 65mm.
