That's the idea.. If i try and fix it here I'm going to be here 2 weeks easy. It's a LBZ so I'll swap injectors, harnesses over and related stuff. Should be up and running Monday ish then load the other home.

At least that way she can continue to make you a paycheck while you rip your machine shops ears off and get you a new crank.

I assume you asked the machine shop when it was rebuilt to put a keyway in? They couldn't do it so why use them? That engine rebuild was the fastest I have ever seen/read/heard of ever.

I asked they didn't... it lasted 242k on a vehicle the Previous owner babied it outside vew WOT runs.. Engine rarely sees above 2600rpm.. Rpm limit is 3600, I'm not building a 4,000rpm engine... Yes it would be another 150-200 to key it... Even with this failure.. And buying another I'm money ahead... In grand seam of things

Just an FYI, LBZ oil cooler elbow is different and T-stat crossver is different. The heater hose on LMM comes out of oil cooler elbow and comes out of coolant bridge on LBZ. I actually used the LBZ cooler and crossover. I like the routing of the heater hoses better. Just a heads up. LBZ injectors always plugged right into my LMM harness too fwiw.

Glad you're keeping a positive attitude, Adam.

I hope Im wrong, but I doubt the machine shop will take any responsibility for what they did/didnt do.

LBZ have 7 holes and LMM have 6 holes. LBZ supposed to atomize fuel better. Same flow with more smaller holes. I think LBZ injectors make the engine have more rattle at idle.

Never knew they had more than 1. All I have ever had is the one on the crossover pipe.

That could explain why the LBZ in my 99 got ~1 mpg better than my LMM.

Any news on the LMM have two ECT sensors.. And the possible of dropping to one cause a problem?

I really think AF cam, girdles, billet mains, billet flex plate, are pretty over the top for a 5-600hp truck that tows for a living.
>dreaming< Wagner base cast heads Hamilton 188/194/109 camshaft, rods, studs, gt3582r/gtx4202r with dual stock pumps would make for an extremely reliable 5-600hp truck..
3794vvt would be great small charger if it the VVT was reliable

But with a new crank why not try af? Not to make you a test dummy but it would be a pretty good test

Time to get out of a dmax and in a cummins Adam... hate to say it but think that's what you need to do. Plus with a normal fire cam a broke crank is when not if.

I agree. I'm seriously considering the jump again. I have a customer who company owns 100's of diesels and his repair and matinance records show the cummins is superior when it comes down to heavy hauling. Plus, his guys report stock against stock the cummins is stronger. I've fought a good fight for the duramax, I even talked him into buying a dozen 15.5's to try out, but his data is overwhelmingly leading me to the darkside...

I have 2-3 major problems with the truck in the ~150-160,000miles I've put on it.
Head gaskets in thanksgiving '14. Didn't leave me stranded..
Swapped to GT4088R turbo April/may '15
Piston failed end of may '15
Crank failed due to reluctor spinning August '15
Putting the GT4088R turbo on was planned down time.. Everything else wasn't

Does that really warrent swapping platforms?
