I was wondering if their is a post showing how to cut the plastic pice out of the front bumper and raise it up I have painter that pice white to match my truck but I think I would like it better with it gone

Just so you know, if you lift the front bumper you will lose your front tow hooks. Just in case that matters. :D

I highly doubt thats going to stop Cornell. Besides, he already did the same thing to his CC.

I raised my bumper up also. Mines a chevy but still same gap. Correct u loose the hooks, but who cares, those things were a joke and snapped very easy. If i owned a gmc, would be one of my first mods.

I would take the front fender flares off. You need to put some tall tires on that little beast!

Here's another one with all the stuff I cut away on my crew cab

So I got the truck back yesterday and have a couple issues:

1) The engine fan won't turn off, could the fan be damaged?
2) The Fuel, Volt, Oil Pressure, and Engine Temp gauges function normally for a little bit, then they go to zero and this repeats as long as the truck is on.
3) The dash lights stay on for awhile after the truck is turned off. I need to go through the wiring because the guy had the radio wired directly to the battery and not to a switchable ignition source so I'm sure he did a bunch of other stupid crap as well.

Haven't had time to search at all but I will get around to it today since its raining.

Yeah Give that a shot, sounds like all the gauges work, and have power. Also it seems like they have a pattern of going on and off, it is not random or anything.

I am still having issues with my wiring as well. Even had the cab back off when did motor and trans. Half the crap did not seem to work. No display, fuel level and trans temp. But have speedo, oil pressure, volts and the display does come on if I barely turn the key but once its to run it shuts off. Driving me crazy. Must me a a reg cab short box issue.

Trans temp, and speedo works fine. The volt meter, engine temp, oil pressure and fuel gauge function fine then revert to zero then read normal again intermittently. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I haven't replaced the the airbag module yet.

Also the shifter indicator sometimes works and sometimes doesn't.

Check your grounds first. Bad connections there wreck havoc on these trucks.

I got rained out at work today so I monkied around with the trucks wiring today.

Checked all my grounds first and they were all fine. Then I remembered a power wire that ran into the cab from the little red box on the drivers side engine compartment but had no idea where it ran. I pulled the radio fuse a couple days ago because however the guy before me wired it up the radio ...it always stayed on. Then I realized that the gauges started acting goofy after I pulled the radio fuse. Anyways I followed the wire to the radio and there was some random relay connected to the radio. He had the relay hooked up wrong and it was turning the power onto the ground when I turned the engine on instead of to the radio and that was why some of the gauges would turn on and be fine in acc mode but once I turned the truck on it would go apeshit because the relay was turning power on and off to the ground. He had a 15A fuse on the wire and I remember when I was working on the truck I would always get a little shock.

Anyways thats fixed now. I ordered my missing bumper brackets today.

The last problem is the engine fan always stays on. I think the fan blades are too far gone and might have taken out the clutch for the fan. I ordered a new clutch fan assembly for 120 bucks so hopefully that takes care of that.

Good thing is the wiring issue is figured out, I replaced a wheel speed sensor on the passenger side but I think it needs to get taken apart again and cleaned because I still have an ABS light.

How did I miss this thread? Looks great! Did you cut the bumper mounts and re-weld them higher to raise the bumper? I need to raise the bumper on my 1/2 ton by about an inch, just trying to figure out the best way to do it.

Nah I did it with washers.... easier and I can fine tune it.

Got some fog lights on Friday. May put those on tomorrow.
