Got home from working out of town and has to post a pic even though most of you have seen a pic of this kind of driveshaft.

The Driveline came with a 1480 u joint. My truck has 1410's. So in order for the shaft to work on my truck I'll swap the 1480 out with a u joint that's has 1480 and 1410 joints so I can install the drive shaft without swapping out the rear yoke. Hey I'm new to a lot of this so bare with me. Lol

Ok.... So why don't you just swap out the rear yoke for a 1480 one?

I will eventually, but nothing was wrong with the one on my truck now so decided to save a few bucks and just do the u joint.

GM 12471499 Pinion Yoke For 1480 Series U-Joint

Yokes aren't anywhere near that expensive if you know where to buy them. Plus swapping out yokes is easy. Just because idiots screw stuff up, doesn't mean it's difficult.

I understand. Just curious why you wouldn't do it all at once and be done. I didn't realize you could purchase a hybrid U joint like that.

The 1410 yoke is about $125.00 the 1480 yoke is about $195.00 could that be the cost difference you're thinking about.? Some of us do and do not have access to jobber pricing and the above are readily available prices via the internet..:thumb:

Greensburg is where I get driveline stuff from. I don't get jobber pricing there. Same price you would get if you called there

Here ya go, more information....:D

Don't forget the pinion seal kit, that's where my prices differed, they had the seal kit. The lowest price is not always the best case and does not always include everything you need as is the case with what was posted earlier. You could probably get by with just the seal only and reduce your cost a bit and not use a new nut and washer.

Me, I would not install a new pinion yoke without a new seal, nut and washer. Also, there is a driveline shop owner on DP that recommends you replace the ujoint straps and in this case if you're going to replace the pinion damper replace the capture straps.....

Ferman did recommend using a new nut in his post and the seal kit includes it along with other necessary parts to do the job correctly.

GM 12471499 with the seal kit and how I came about on the prices I posted, a complete install minus the straps....

Polishing a driveshaft is something I would totally do. Looking forward to more updates.
