Well I still haven't made any progress on the engine. Hopefully get things going on it in a month.
Did get some parts off the floor for the truck. Installed a FASS, dropped and cleaned the fuel tank along with getting rid of 15gal of 2 y/o diesel, installed a new Carter pump off the slip tank and will have a new filter base and filter mounted for it tomorrow.
I still need to hook the webasto fuel line into the inlet to the FASS which I forgot to do.
Then it's on to wiring in the power for the Carter, FASS, running wires for the DSP 5 which I have had for 5 years and never installed as well as the wiring for an engine oil temp gauge.
Then it's back to work for 2 or 3 weeks.

This is turning into the project that is never going to happen. Good news is that my shop is finally finished and heated, wedding is over and out of the way, the wife is done school, and I'm finally busy at work and getting things together to get this over and done with.

Haven't done a damn thing to the truck other than buying a new LML crank which is currently being shipped to G&J right now and then they can start the balancing and necessary machining shortly after they receive it. Brad bought the machine shop he has been using for the past several years so he can prioritize what gets done and when which is good for me.

Hoping to have an AF cam here soon when someone gets the one I want in stock. Then I can head to Montana to put the rest of the shortblock together and bring it back with the rest of my junk Brad has been storing there for some time now!
Need to save up to pay for the trans build and taxes for the government for when I try to bring it all back across first though. :canada:

I'll be headed up for the NHRDA Edmonton race if you need anything brought across.., if possible. It can be "spare parts" for the Nova incase they fail:thumb:

Interesting. I'll keep that in mind. Thanks!!:thumb:

If things don't go my way, I may have to throw the stock trans and converter back in just to get it on the road in which case I may need a trans brought up. I will be in touch though if I need anything! Probably buy you a case of blue and some maple syrup for your troubles!:D

Crank made it to G&J on Wednesday so shout out to GMpartscenter.net and Fedex for delivering it 2 days early! Pleasantly surprised about that. Free shipping to boot! Going to call Brad Monday AM and see what his machine shop schedule looks like. Fingers crossed for having a built shortblock in my possession soon!

Now to find someone with an no relief required AF cam in stock. I saw on FB NGM has released an AF cam. Cost is more than EDP and less than Socal. Problem is it's two weeks to get it built and then delivery after that. I'd be willing to try one if they had it in stock but I think I have enough guinea pig parts going into this engine already!

AF cam was at the builder 3 days after ordering so that was good. Top notch service from Danville!:thumb: I will be contacting them about a turbo next week and getting that lined up also.

Got my nozzles back from Kennametal and for some reason they sent me a brand new one instead of my original #5 back so not sure what happened there. Never got told anything about it. All said and done with the extrude hone work, shipping and paying the diesel shop here to test and remove/install the injector nozzles I am into injectors for $1100 CDN. Not sure if it was worth it yet or not. They were supposed to be 45 over but when the shop did a re-test after install they said it was only about 20 over the original flow numbers. They were all balanced however and the numbers may have just been low because their test bench doesn't have enough flow to properly test them. Hope for the best I guess.

I welded up a stand to transport my shortblock from Montana and while I was digging the engine out I found and pulled my stock converter out of the corner which only has about 5000 miles on it and is like new on the inside but to my dismay I found the bottom side which mates up to the flywheel has significant rust damage to the extent I don't even know if it is good for core let alone re-using it temporarily. I was planning to run it until I can get the truck down to Mike for the trans build. I don't want to damage my new SFI flywheel so looks like I will be buying one of Mike's R converters sooner than planned. On the hunt for a "cheap cheap" converter for core now.:(
