I figured I would start a thread on the motor build , things are headed off to machine next week so things should start moving right along now :cool2:
Rods didnt look half as bad as i expected , they were visibly bent but not much , pistons look perfect , and cylinder walls were perfect .

How many miles on this motor Trent

Its got 70k on it . has about 20k with larger turbo/turbo's , water meth , heavy towing , and at least 100 runs down the strip ( min ) . It looked pretty good inside for the abuse its took IMOP .

uhhh i cant really tell the rods are bent.

In person you can see it better but I agree they werent that crooked , I think a eye to eye measurement would show they shortend quite a bit , none of my pistons had protrusion when at aTDC they were 1/8" - 1/16" under deck height , I didnt measure it though so thats just a guess .

Do the rods always bend to one side or other in relation to the block??

Not to highjack a great thread Trent, but I thought this might be a fun comparison. Two 11.0? trucks, both with stock internals. Different power adders, and different deaths.
My truck...stock turbo, stock injectors, big spray.
Trents truck.....twins, 45% over sticks.
My pistons were destroyed! 1/2 inch gouges through the lip at every inection spray point, on all eight. They were so perfectly, equally, eaten away, that they looked like factory.(balance rates never went out of speck!!) Now on the flip side, my rods appear to be perfect. So what does all this mean??? I'm sure many will blame the spray for killing my pistons, and they may be correct. Personally, I'm thinking(I hope) that it was due to real big pulse widths, with REAL BIG egt's. Hope this means anything to anyone or helps someone with what they are doing. Great luck with the build Trent, I know it'll be done right and run strong.

I'm curious as to what all your doing to the motor? :didimiss:

Budget build , bare minimum .................... cutting pistons ourselves , low compression 15-15.5-1 , big boost / race only use . Howard Xbeam rods , keyed cam . The truck proved it can make the power so all efforts is to just simply make it hold it, and increase air and boost a bit .

I think its is the torque the twins make that made the difference in the rods , there is no way to tune out torque with twins the curves are too broad and flat , Pistons I think it was the extreme egt's you ran , were as my truck was 1350-1450 degree's max ( didnt look at gage on 11.0 run though ) . You def put more big power passes on your truck then i did though, but still my pistons look as good as most stock trucks i have torn down !

sounds sweet that is more my style

I would like 600 hp reliably with low egt's no lag and no smoke. Maybe once its paid off:)
