ML converter stall

remember what your looking for is the rpm the split second when the truck makes a move.

Mine moves as soon as I take my foot off the brake. Does that mean the flash stall on my converter is idle (700ish RPM)? :angel:

You are wrong. try and listen and do some reading before you post your dumb answers. I can change the flash point with a mod to the pressure regulator valve. seems you are not capable of doing the simple test mentioned earlier. Stop smoking that shit or drinking that shit. Your dumb answers are getting old.

I have my hands on a completely stock lb7 I just went through the trans on, I put a Goerend "C" stock stator triple disc in it. It gets up and goes as soon as throttle is stabbed 1000-1200 rpm, but really goes around 1600ish. Have you had experience with this converter Mike? What do you consider the flash to be on a "C" Goerend, Mike? This is just for my personal reference and feel, thanks.

You just don't make any sense. You say at a stop light, in drive, let off the brake and hit the pedal. When the truck lunges forward is your flash point. Is this not what you said? I did this 5 tines today and same outcome. Truck "lunges" forward when I push the pedal. Don't talk crap to me when you can't even make any sense. I haven't done anything to you but ask questions on trying to figure this out.

The "flash" point, simply put, is the rpm at which a car moves from a dead stop under full load.

Does that make any more sense?

I guess I'm just completely lost then on this whole flash point.

Think you are reading too much into it....

You are looking for a max RPM it will go to, not minimum......so with that in mind. You need to apply as much throttle as possible.

In other words.....from a dead stop.....floor it, watch needle.

It's going to be very hard to measure just watching the tach. First gear is so low in the Allison, the converter will flash and the engine will immediately begin to accelerate past it. You need to log it. You should see a steep climb in RPM and then it will sort of flatten out. The point where it starts to flatten out is the flash stall speed. You should use your V2 to log so you can capture engine and transmission data at the same time. If you watch converter slip speed, you should see a point where it peaks on the graph and then starts to pull the input and turbine speeds back together.

That'll be the best way. I tried watching the tach but the rpm jumps quick & rocks right past the flash point. Need to utilize my V2:D

The C converter was designed by Dave and myself. It has been my in house converter for 2 years. I love it. The flash point on that converter ( depending on truck ) is 1600/1700 rpm.

Seems like some posts are missing from this thread.......

But any rate I was messing around with doing this on my stock trans truck yesterday. Seems like max rpm it was taking off was in the 1600-1800 rpm. I was just watching the tac so not very accurate test. I know pulling a full load it seems like it took 2000rpm or greater to get things moving.
