I don't care how hot your tuning is, you aren't going to instantly make 6-7-800 horse right off the throttle. I'm not trying to argue here, I'm just trying to understand what your trying to explain.

If I'm understanding mike right, flash point is when you mash the throttle from a dead stop then at what rpm the truck lunges forward at. Seems like stall speed and flash point are related to each other as in a high stall converter would have a higher flash point.

Now if you are correct quinton then i can definitely see how tuning will affect the flash point.

I just don't see how you can have a "flash point" when there are so many factors. Also turbo could effect this to right? Bigger turbo will take longer. If you had a stock truck and ran different converters in it then I could see you finding a accurate flash point.

All converters have a flash point. You dial in the proper flash point for your truck by choosing or custom building the correct converter for your truck. Stall has a direct affect on the flash point. Flash point is only a gauge.

I know all converters will have it but I guess I'm just not getting what you're saying. Flash point is when you are at a stop light and idling off the brakes and you punch it, as soon as the truck lunges forward is your flash pint correct? If that's the case then it would be instant? Truck starts moving right when you push the pedal. Idk just don't get exactly what you are saying. I see it either being that way, or when you start to blow the tires off as a flash point.

I don't think a turbo would affect flash point since don't need boost to get your truck moving.

When you stab the throttle watch the tach, I never understood this until I had my 65 Malibu with a 468 bbc. I had a "3500 stall" converter but it pushed through brakes bad at 2800. If I stood on throttle stopped tach would flash to 3200-3300 rpm then load engine down to 2800-2900 and start climbing rpm fast or spin tires lol! 3200-3300 was my "flash" stall. Your diesel will do the same.

Well then every truck has the same flash point, when you got the pedal the truck lunges forward.

At what rpm though? That's the point. Some trucks migh take off at 1000 rpm other might be 2000 rpm. All depends on converter, weight, and tire size.

Exactly also tuning can effect this and turbo/s

I'd bet good money that my truck in a controlled test would take off at the same rpm in the stock tune and a tune that makes 600hp+. I would also be I could take the intercooler boot off (so it would be a n/a motor) and it would still take off at the same rpm.

Id take that bet.

I can't tell on mine as it seems to take off around 2600-2800 and I know damn well I can't go over 2100 at the line without pushing threw the brakes go run a few more times see if I can see it better

remember what your looking for is the rpm the split second when the truck makes a move.
