You know what my vote is... LLY swap, then the thing will actually be fast.... Maybe
Damn sorry to hear this Trent. Cup issues have been haunting me all year, including my hometown event in Columbus, Indy, and the DTS event in Georgia. Fresh cup lifts at each event. In the midst of this, I did try the billet hold downs, but that didnt work out. It will certainly drive you nuts. David at DTS is currently machining aluminum cups for me now. Please give him a call if you are interested(or wait till I give em a test) As for the threaded cups Henry was refering to....they were not ready when my engine was going back in, so I didnt get to use them. I was told that someone did test them(I dont know who) and some improvements were needed. The improved version should be ready soon, and have been offered to me again for testing. I'd like to try both fixes, if time allows.(need to have something that works for the finals in Topeka) I'll keep you guys posted on what I find.

I would go LLY or LBZ but I have a bunch of time in extending my harnesses already and an 02 to an 06 swap wouldn't be easy.
We redid the cups last week and got the truck running. We will see how it holds.
I'm telling ya guys, The swap to LLY or LBZ heads is easier than you think. the most annoying part is getting all the brackets if you want it to look like factory. I'm not a stickler in that sense, so I think it was fairly simple and well worth the investment.
Sorry to hear Trent. I've battled cup problems for two years now. My problem now is the seats in the heads are eroded from water passing by last season. It is also what is holding me up this year. Last year we used the CAT green sleeve retainer. It held better but we still had issues. We discussed the thread in cups but never could get any made. We also discussed aluminum cups to weld in but had heard some horror stories of how many tries it took to get them right. I only know of one truck running them but I'm sure there are more.
I would have switched heads if I didn't have to cut a new ring in them. My last ditch effort on them believe it or not is ultra copper instead of loctite. I thought it may fill some of my imperfections as well as stretch a bit vs loctite just breaking. I would go LLY or LBZ but I have a bunch of time in extending my harnesses already and an 02 to an 06 swap wouldn't be easy.

I am def not against it but heard it was alot harder with the 01 -02 than the later LB7's ?
It's not harder as far as I can guess, I didn't do it to an 03-04. At first I was wicked intimidated by it, but after I have had to go over it multiple times to troubleshoot codes and stuff, it is much more simple than I originally thought. The bale connector pin outs are easy to change (only a few of them) and even the FICM harness was pretty simple to splice in. My problems were all either loose connectors, a loose terminal, or a bad CAN bus circuit that I ended up deleting and making my own in the cab and it works fine now.
i guess well see how it goes and see what we can come up with this winter , and def still considering the LLY route , I have a set of heads here , big cost will be in the injector arena , and having to re-port , ect but would be worth it i guess if it fixed it for good .
