went out to the track yesterday for a T&T and made 3 passes , good news is I was finally able to solve some issues I have been fighting for 2 years and the truck was getting really good ET for the MPH , bad news is lifted a cup on the 3rd pass :toetap::banghead:, hopefully have it up and going for another time out with in a week or 2 depending on if there was any damadge cause this time .

1st pass was a soft launch on a tiny tune

12.0 @ 110.** 1.88 60ft , 7.6 1/8 mile

all was good so moved it to tune 2, another soft launch but harder than the last .

60 ft 1.66
330 4.478
1/8 6.862 @101.92
1000 8.973
1/4 10.75 @ 124

That pass was great just needed a harder launch and some more fuel , turned it up a few hundred more USEC and launched a lot harder but went too hard and blew through the tires . but we lifted a cup before the 1/8 mile , sadly since the rad is in the bed i didn't know until the run was over it had lost water just felt the truck nose over a bit, it sucks to finally have the truck ET so well and not hold together long enough to even put a real tune it in :( , ill post some vids in a bit .

60 ft 1.65
330 4.416
1/8 6.704 @ 106.39
1000 8.711
1/4 10.41 @ 131

:( But, I bet it felt great to get back to the track.

Thanks Kat , it felt really good to get back out !

Sorry to hear you are still fighting issues but I am glad to hear that it is back on the track. Keep at it!

Thanks Jon , it sucks i was hoping the billet hold down would buy me a little more time , all i really needed was for them to hold a few times out . , even put 4 new gages in the truck to closely monitor boost from both stages , drive pressure , EGT's , and all were well in check , boost never even went over 70 on those small tunes, not to mention these cast pistons are over 1.5 points lower on compression than my forged are .

Nice numbers for some shakedown. Sounds like you are going to need to go with different heads or weld those cups. Your truck has got me worried and I think I am going to go to LLY heads next year. Congrats for sure though.

I def knew i would need more in the long run and have everything lined out to make it happen over the winter , but was hoping the billet hold down would make them last a while , all they had to do is last 2 times out and the year is pretty much over here , well see what happens .............

Man, wouldnt we all like to run 10.75 on a mild launch. Wow.

Time to call DTS about those heads and get the cups welded in, Trent. You were the first person I thought of when they posted those.

There are some guys out there who know how to weld the ss cups to the heads. I don't think i would chance it, therefore I forewent the whole issue. Knowing what I know now, id have used lmm heads and not lly heads, though the difference is minimal.

Lilly heads man,,,,,,,,,,,,,,:thumb:

I have a set here and there still not off the table just not enough time before the year is up .

it was pretty amazing , it picked up that much by a 500 usec change in the tune , picked up another 6-7 MPH going a couple hundred more on the next pass .

I am still happy with the passes i made yesterday considering how much mit was turned up , but when the trucks went almost a second faster on much less hardware ............

1.60 60' is considered "mild"???

Trent what type of lock-tite are you using to seal the cups, and are you using new cups and o-rings each time? How long are you letting them sit, etc?

IMO your only option from now on is LLY+ heads or threaded/welded cups. Provided the cups were installed/seated 100% correctly, it seems the billet hold-downs arent clamping them tight enough. :(

Nice runs though, cant wait to see what she'll do when you crank it up. :thumb:

Any video?

hey trent were the billet hold downs on your truck for that run?? Im not sure where your cup prob is coming from man, i have 14,300 miles on my engine this year and not one cup problem or pressure issue yet, my hold downs are 5 years old and running, im setting them to 70 foot pounds if that helps, red lock tight, and oil on the cup o rings for pre lube?? im sure you already know all this but sucks your having all these cup probs?
