Haha. My Father had a 2011 F-450 Dually 6.7L and currently has a 2014 F-450 Dually 6.7L. The 2011 got hit by a ford explorer that was backing out of the parking spot at a gas station, hit the front of the bumper and bent his frame. Couldn't drive the truck anymore which brings us to this 2014. At 20,000 miles his suspension and steering is gone, squeaks while turning both directions, his tires are chewed up and now needs new ones. He's getting average of 10-11mpg without a trailer. With a trailer it struggles up smaller grades, and the trailer brake function is absolutely horrendous. He's never had a truck that needed to downshift on level grade to maintain speed. Now, I'm not talking like he's got a 53' boat behind him, it's a car hauler trailer with large overhead doors, maybe a dock leveler. Honestly, they are shit trucks with shit motors and at well over $50,000 a piece I'm pretty sure he won't be making that mistake again.

BUT BACK TO TO OP, sorry about the fire man. Glad everybody was safe!

Denali. Hands down. I'm not even sure why that was an option. Ram just recently pulled their heads out of dark places and just started making decent (I say that word with very little meaning) vehicles. GM has had some of the best 3/4 & 1 ton vehicles out there for at least 14 years and counting. Only real competitor GM had was Ford, and we won't begin to mention how they are the only ones who still owe the taxpayers $4,000,000,000 out of the "Big 3". Plus, their 6.7L Powerstrokes are shit. :)

I always used to think I just had blinders on or a lop sided view, but... A guy I know of, a good friends brother, runs a tire business in Ohio I believe. He called me and had a million questions a few years back and he swore by gm for his service trucks.

He said between front u-joints and ball joints for his dodges, and his dodge service trucks needed door pins and hinges every 6 months or less. His fords, mostly 6.0's, had WAY too expensive upkeep, turbos, injectors, egr, head gaskets, and cracked cylinder heads. He was reluctant to try 6.4's, upon getting one his worst fears became true shortly after. He said driver's seat cushion amand expected maintenance and expected wear items were 95% of problems with Chevy HD's.

All he uses is diesel 3/4 tons, he said dodge was by far the cheapest built and loudest "road noise".

I have friends that own some of each and I have rode in them all on long trips while towing all different things. The dodge megacab has the most room, ever since 2008 I have believed Ford has the "nicest, roomiest" interior. The interior actually swayed to of my friends towards buying 6.7 Scorpions, but they got as good of mileage with their LMM's stock. And my buddies with LML's (11 & 13) get about 2 mpg average, on the farm and day to day use...

My 6.7 ford buddies average 11-12 mpgs on their displays as of recently, lml DMAX shows 13-14 average... Three of the guys are farmers and the other is a construction guy who all work locally, mostly short trips, little time for regenerations and all similar habits on the way they use the go pedal...

TX of course
I can get down to 6mpg pretty easy on my work truck. It might idle all day long. The only thing that saves it is my long commute.

Pulling our 30'GN with a ok load I got 7mpg IIRC with a brand new 6.7 F350 and that was on the hwy.

To each their own, but you'll never see me lay a penny on the table for anything but GM products. The rest are, how do you say it nicely... Garbage? ;)

I'd bet my paycheck there are similar "horror stories" on CF & PSN about how chitty someone's Dmax is/was so they'll "never having anything but a ( ford/Dodge ) in my driveway!"

I honestly think all three make fantastic trucks these days. IMO the ford SD looks the best inside & out. Ever since someone pointed it out to me, GMs square fender openings irk me. I never paid attention to it until a yr or so ago. Now I just feel that's stupid to make a square opening for a round tire. Weird. & they're making them more & more square = worse & worse to me.

That said, it's gonna be hard for me to own anything but a GM truck bc I've always been diehard GM guy. I'm heavily leaning ford for next truck tho.

Not to be the ford ford ford guy, but I have been in a ford for many years before my duramax, it wasn't nearly the truck my 05 is but it was also an 02.

Fast forward to the 15' 6.7 Powerstroke. There are a slew of upgrades coming to this engine that I believe will make it hard to compete with. The fact that the motor and trans are built in house it shows promise that they will continue to fix found issues with them. I am very active on a powerstroke forum (powerstroke army) And there are alot of people who love their 6.7's.

I for one will stick with duramax for a while but thats just my opinion. :thumb:

They do have the least problematic emission systems now...I honestly cant even imagine what I would do if my brand new truck burned to the ground aitting in my driveway though...I'd probably be so discouraged that I would close up shop.

I am very impressed to say the least with my wifes F-350 King Ranch. This truck is a 13' with 5600 miles on it now. It is the soccer mom rig and has been averaging 18.5 with all emissions intact. I have all the stuff to delete the emissions systems but a big part of me just wants to leave it alone. I love the way the truck rides, drives, electronics, interior, exterior yada yada. With the 15's coming out 440 / 860 this should be interesting how they do. I really think the Scorpion 6.7 hit the nail on the head with fords flavor of common rail injection. The used Piezo electric solenoids to control the bosch injectors. This solenoid allows much better control of pilot injection, post injection, main injection, all injections. GM is using these solenoids on the lml also I believe. This is what really stepped up the ford imop.

Probably high jacking this thread but it seems a bit off topic any ways. When did a truck become about the interior? Am I the only person who looks for a basic work truck anymore? I mean my speakers have been blown in my truck for 18 months and I took them out. couldn't care less about the inside as long as it doesn't stink. Maybe times have passed me by.

The 6.7 Ford, to me, is a larger copy of the 4.5L Duramax.

So, here's to Ford... it took you 10 years to see the light on the injection system, you still haven't seen the light on the front suspension, your interiors have no resemblance of being driver-centric, and you probably still have to lift the cab to work on the things.

Ford 6.7 and LML share the same injection system...

Bosch cp4.3 with piezo style injectors...

Hahahaha. Agreed 100%! Ford needs to go take that $4,000,000,000 and pay it back to us. Then go design rubber dog shit in another country.

glad everyone was "ok" in all the fire scenarios
GOD Bless, and I hope y'all are compensated properly and with little down time and hassle

On a side note....I'm glad I removed my grid heater....

as for the auto manufacturers...
dodges have ALWAYS been less about the truck/car and all about the engine, they're tin cans on wheels...
ford...well fords are like marrying a hot chick, they look good (in someone's eyes) they require tons of maintenance and do little work..
GM's have always been well rounded vehicles, they like all things have they're own issues, but they're minor and reliable in terms of how, when and why they show up

sure they've had they're crap bombs over the years but they always move forward. I'll be a GM fanboi till the day I die, I grew in a family that had them and I'll always own at least one. out of the "big 3" the other two haven't had the success GM has had in terms of platform design, reliability and comfort, not to mention looks and heritage. I mean, look to the corvette, the bel air, camaro and of course the silverado...
and let's not forget, the 6.6 liter d-max that debuted 14 years ago, is still a 6.6L and has been relatively unchanged and still has ford and dodge by the balls;)

I was under the impression Ford took NO bail out money?

Nonetheless this GM lawsuit and the ignition switch is IMO a crock of poop! People have more crap hanging off their key chains from stuffed animals to work ID's. My bet is some weigh upwards to 2 pounds!

The key chain should have the ignition key and perhaps a fob period. If Judge Judy ruled on it GM would win . :D

There is NO common sense left in this world!
