One thing Ive always wondered about the CP3 swap is how does a CP3 maintain the higher PSI that the LML requires (not to mention the fuel volume) when its essentially "half" a CP4?? Just curious.
Not sure on this but converted to a 10mm cp3 and that thing will hold 29 no prob on max effort

i sent emails to the NHTSA and GM about it, and filed a formal complaint with the NHTSA. granted it's probably not going to be found as a "safety" issue, just trying to ruffle feathers at this point. I was in AZ for the weekend and got a call from someone at GM, and she asked me some questions, apologized for the inconvenience, blah blah, then she said she was going to reach out to my local dealer where I bought the truck and start a reimbursement claim process. not sure if anyone else has gone through it or been successful, but at this point, any money back in my pocket and I'd be happy. final bill was $8979 with the sdp cp3 kit, airdog 4g, and new injectors, the rest of the fuel system was fine, no contamination back to the tank. I'm friends with a few of the guys at the dealer, since we get all our personal and company vehicles there, so i'll follow up with them today and see what's going to happen with that claim.

CP4 Failure

Add me to the list. 2016 Chev 2500, 22,000 miles, completely stock. Towed our boat down to Norris Lake, dropped it at the marina to go pick up RV and put it at marina when boom....DIC flashed "Reduced Engine Power" and "Change Fuel Filter". truck still moves but VERY slowly. Codes were for low fuel rail pressure, and another that my scanner didn't recognize. Had to have it towed into Chevrolet dealer in Knoxville, TN where they told me the entire fuel system has to be replaced. $15,000 and 2 weeks, luckily all covered under warranty.

I have been told that this failure is covered on the 5 year/100K mile powertrain warranty, but have trouble finding that exact language in the warranty. does anyone know anything about that>

Also, I don't believe installing a lift pump (Fass or Airdog), would void any warranty...but again, does anyone have any specific knowledge on that?

This will depend on the dealer some wouldnt care and others would deny you.

Cp4 is covered under the 5yr 100k power train

In the past month and a half we've seen 6 cp4 pumps grenade. 4 Duramax, 1 Ford and an Audi Q7.

Got me paranoid about my 6.7. Really wish I could do a cp3 swap.

Have the Duramax trucks had lift pumps or other mods?

No lift pumps on them. 1 is a fleet customer of ours. We've cared for the truck since basically new. It died because of contamination. Fuel was slam full of water from a shady gas station. 40 horse h&s. 1 had less than 100k, efi tunes of some kind. 1 had 120k, lived on h&s perf tune. Last one has 150ish, not sure what tune or power level it's at. Didn't ask the customer and don't have it running yet.

These stories make me want to do a swap but don't want to spend $3000 right now if not needed.

Am I the only one who saw the new TSB from gm about lml injectors and fuel rails? I want to say it was around $2200 for all 8 Injectors with out cores and new rails and lines. My friend showed me on gm website. I thought that was pretty cool and from what I understand, they know what happening and giving a little break on the parts cause of it. Correct me if I am wrong.

GM offers a Pump Kit (PN: 12672028) for just over $1600 now. Kind of unclear of the exact contents, but I know it comes with new injectors, CP4 (insert directly into trash), fuel rails and some misc gaskets. I will take pictures when mine arrives this week :(

Awesome, GM couldn't be more vague with the contents..."PUMP KIT". What about the electric relief valve? I have a new injector return line assembly (w/ CV) also on the way. Anything else I am missing for the repair/ swap? Any misc gaskets/ o-rings?

I am doing a FULL EGR delete as well with a LB7 uppipe.

Even if you're going to do a cp3 conversion, it's still the cheapest way to get good new injectors.

yup :thumb: putting a CP3K back in there this weekend. I know most of you would never put a CP4 back in, but is there a market for new CP4s??? Id like to sell it if I can, otherwise ill burn it.

haha, that's what I figured. Not really a loss considering what you get for $1600.

Is anyone stroking the CP4s or need cores these days?

Exergy has a stroker cp4 that mark Broviak has been testing and loves it. Not sure if they need cores

Interesting...I'll reach out to Exergy to see if they would give me anything for the paper weight.

Where did you find it for this price? It looks like list is around $2750. Thanks!
