Little fishing in The Gulf of Mexico

Got away for a few days to do some Red Snapper fishing. We smashed them:thumb:. A few pics.

Can only load one pic at a time. Here is a dolphin (mahi mahi) we caught at a rig called Petronius (80 miles offshore) hard to get good pics in the heat of the moment LOL

That's a real nice lookin fish holder

Fun times. Gulf was almost dead smooth. We marked some BFT on the fish finder, down around 500 feet, 2000 feet total depth. I tired several live baits and jigs, couldn't get them to bite. Very disappointed to mark nice fish, and not catch them.

But NMFS says the red snapper are endangered and not out there.

Where were you looks like a good haul. We have been trout fishing. Haven't been offshore yet. Looking to get the snapper this weekend though

They say the same thing with the codfish up here, yet the guys haddock fishing have a hard time staying away from them
I wouldn't trust nmfs or noaa to count the fish in my aquariums

Same thing with black sea bass and gag grouper here. Seems there are more of them than ever but not according to nmf. Now they are about to change flounder regs again and require logg books for charters, they have to logg every fish encounter and count their bait fish. How stupid is that...

It's hard to get thru the snapper for trigger fish and even AJ.... Way too many red snapper down here. Stupid 2 per person limit...

For the snapper I have a few "secret" spots about 52 miles sw of Orange Beach. For the mahi, we went to Petronius which is about 80 miles sw of Orange Beach.

Nice catch guys. Other than stupidity, do you know the reasons they are placing all the bogus limits on things? There has to be some underlying reason that benefits someone/thing.
