is lexan windows DOT? that'd save a pile of weight.

c-ya

FWIW 1/4" sq' of glass wieghs 3.2 lbs VS Lexan 1.5 lb per sq' 1/4" thick

And has 250 times the impact strenght.

(Just read this today)

If it is not DOT then people that want to do drive a reg cab with a roll bar better consider this. Might have to see about going above the rear window just to keep the stock glass

Weighed mine yesterday, full tank of fuel plus me and it weighed in at 7680 lbs, now add in the usual passenger I let ride down the track with me and I'd say I got a pretty damn heavy 2wd truck

Wonder what I need to do to break into the 12's now :cool2:

My truck with my pretty tires weighs and me weigh 7900. I got out of the truck and scale said 7700... Weighs another 200 less when I run my pyos... So at the track im at 7700 and I dont do any weight saving. Maybe when I get out of the stock tranny era, Ill consider weight reduction. cant wait!
have front bumper replacement
tonneau
dyno mat entire interior- twice on doors
tools..

There isn't that much weight loss when you start tearing out under the dash unless you go all the way like Cbum did. We yanked all that stuff out of Max's Out and I don't think all if it added to 20 lbs. I do think replacing the steering wheel and maybe the column would help. The faster you go the more stuff you have to add to be legal so keep that in mind. Loops, tranny blankets, scatter shields full cage with window net etc, etc, etc. The fiberglass bed isn' that much lighter than the stock one, Buck Spruill bought one and has said it wasn't worth it. Doing what Trent did to his truck is probably about as light as you can get an extended cab. I think he said it weighed 5500 lbs. Big twins are heavy as well.

Ive got mine sitting at 6250 with a 1/4 tank of fuel, stock rims, and me in it. And the tailgate, hitch and rear bumper still on. I have the passenger side battery, spare tire and related brackets, and a few other things pulled out. My steel 16x8 rims and 305/70 tires add quite a bit of weight though when I have them on.

I pulled the entire AC system from my 2wd. You can buy a delete pully that bolts into the stock location of the compressor. There are tons of shields under the trucks to get rid of if its race only, plus all the dirt packed behind them.

I remember you asking about the pn# for that pully a while back. You had a good mindset for losing wieght on your truck

my dodge racing bud got his 2wd down to 4620lb with out him on it
that would be wicked

there is so much of a advantage to wieght reduction that people don't realiZe Imo

congrats to to you!

I have also pulled wipers and all asociated hardware, washer bottle, 2nd batt, front inner fenders, radio, antena, speakers, interior, underhood insulation, firewall insulation, heatshields, fuel tank sheilds, extra braces under frame, front swaybar, hitch and rear bumper, tailgate, egr system, ect..

In the process of pulling fan and shroud and swaping in (2) ford taurus fans. Should drop a little weight and free up a few Hp. This site is great for actual knowledge without all the trash talk of a few other sites. I made the switch from Ford to a Dmax last year and started over with all the newbie questions and a ton of searches, thanks to anyone who has helped me along the way.

The lovely truck I started with had both bags popped when I picked it up. I also added a 1500 bumper because it was missing. Before I installed the bumper I pulled the grey plastic off the top and used a uni bit to drill a bunch of holes in the metal. After the plastic was reinstalled it looked factory. Not sure of the actual year of the bumper found it on craigs list for $75.
