fabbing is so funny deciding this way or this way .

so many ways to skin the cat .

Drvr side mount is giving me some trouble , need to tie in ear mount area .

Nothing to bolt to . Has to come from 4 bolt pad behind and below .

Pass side has a few bolt holes on face of block Im going to use with bracket .

Been also thinking about complete cross member under pan between mounts .

Chewing on alot of idea's at the moment .

Doing some measuring right now to see how much exactly the mounts went down and out . Should be 1/8 down and 1/8 out on each side with plate at 45 deg . If I guess right . Need to machine pads on back of mounts down some .

Back at it , smoke break is over . :D

since you got a nice abundance of 1/4" plate.
cut a secone peice out drill holes in it. then weld the holes and outer edges. the will give you a 1/2" plate and stronger as well.

Im getting there on something pretty strong .

Just been a little hard with just a sawzaw a drill and a grinder .

Ive have some welding to do now . I made some sweet brackets and Im thinking about doing what you said and doubling them up .

Just trying to do it all right the first time . Drvrs side mount is being a pain .

I think ive got something that is strong . Will post some pics later .

Did another plate below other one that stubs up to front of ear mounts on both sides .

Pass side much stronger than drvrs side . Working on that now .

Ok I made some more plates go under others and give me something to tie ear mounts into .

Still crude looking and need to be tuned up .

Passenger side has tie in on upper plate , making it really secure .

Drvers side is a pain , nothing to bolt to . I made a nice up bracket and am copying it now to add one behind front one . Then tie them together and do some boxing in and gussets on the whole thing to beef it up .

No laughing , Im doing the best I can with what I have . I wont run it all if it doesnt look like it will hold up .

Im keeping the faith in my abilities .

The boxing/gusseting is where this will be won or lost!

Keep to it!

Ok after thinking more I doubled everything up . 2 Lower plate stacked and 2 uprights .

Now I will start tacking and bracing .

Adam (Malibu) came by and we went on got more sawzaw blades .

Cutting Grinding for another couple hours , Ive got all my pieces .

Well one more .... always that last one to do .

I think this is pretty strong . Need to drill some holes in plates to weld to each other still .

Now I just need to decide where to box in and gussett for ultimate strength .

I can go o McFaddendales and get some better ones .

These were what I got my hands on . Was thinking the same thing .

There is 9 bolts into the block both sides . 18 total holding mounts to block .

I think they are strong enough . But easily replaced .

Just need to weld and gussett now .

So , have any of you looked under your hoods to see if your trucks have the ear mounts on you blocks .

Look for the bosses also , 2 of them on each side of front cylinder walls .

2 that are bigger around pad and larger thread .

All would not be used on 2500 and you should be able to be seen easy .

Just wondering how common these commercial blocks are or if all 05 and later have these castings .
