Kinda a big PITA to be switching 2wd-4wd and back so much huh? See how well Casper does as a 2wd drag truck, might be suprised? Lighter on its front toes thats for sure! Ita be nice to see a stock body/chassis type max effort 2wd drag times. Most all are 4x4 or full built drag trucks;)

Wow, I have to check this thread more often. I thought that the twins that PPE made for Casper were not working as well as hoped and they were taken off? Is this the same set or something modified. Casper having a stroker motor is correct then, and puts it in a different class? Have a back up 6.6 motor if you need it? Casper is now a 2x4 and will remain that way? Are Casper's drag racing days over at least as a 4x4? Am I up to speed now or am I still way behind.:D

Casper's original set of PPE twins worked very well, especially over 4000rpm. They launched violently, and carried big power past 5200rpm. Exceptional RPM range. We have detuned the Bonneville set since we won't be using that high of RPM.

We stopped running them so PPE could tool up the retail kit, and HP was not the problem we encountered at El Mirage. If anything, we needed less HP because El Mirage has about as much traction as sand this year.

When we get back from Bonneville, Casper is going back to 4x4 and the dragstrip. Perhaps some AutoX racing or Desert racing will be in the future.

The engine displacement break for LSR racing occurs at 440ci, so we punched it out to 441.5ci to run A/DT class. If we get time, we will run B/DT as well by swapping in a lightly mod'd stock displacement engine.

I could store that "lightly modded" stock displacement engine for you...:D

Good luck Pat, sounds good we're all pulling for you. You might want to start installing wing nuts on the changeable parts, might make taking Casper apart and back together a bit faster.:D

I don't see a reason to return to 4x4 for drag racing there are a few (quite a few) 2x4's getting it done and if anyone could get a truck to hook it'll be the Mcswains!

Good luck,peeps!

It would take a back half and a 4 link to get it to hook up ........ thats alot of work and money to only get what you would have already started with . and at that point might as well go prostock truck . Seems easy to swap back and forth couple times a year between 2wd and 4wd .

It's a very easy swap. It takes us all of an hour to do the swap.

Plus we are not ruling out more sled-pulling in the future. The 2wd thing is very LSR specific.

If you plan on some autoXing you will have to do it in 4X2 or we will have to get a full time transfer case.

Nor can we run a straight centerlink either. It would have to be locked into one gear as well. Most likely it would destroy the G80 posi as well. But it might be fun to try.
