Only time i need to shut the pump off is when its real cold.( ambient )..I just dont think its a good idea to shut the pump off

a better way would be to have a electric fan that runs on temp JMHO

sorry about the pm Simon , i had not seen your reply here .
most of my concern wasnt on turning it off but more of not having to watch temps and turning it on manually . this isnt my dd anymore but I do drive it on the street 99% of the time , having it auto would be a no brainer for me lol

Mine is my daily driver and I just have it wired to come on with the key - no need to manually turn it on that way. You could wire it that way and also have a manual shut off switch. Just leave it on unless you need to turn it off to warm the truck up.

bump for an update...

How is this running on the daily drivers...I DD and tow daily with mine...but am tired of OEM water pump replacements...before I finish the build on the new motor I'd like to rig this up...anymore install pictures out there...would like to see what everyone has done and pick which would be the easiest for me...

Thanks,

Pepp

There's alot of hi miler trucks driven without racing etc. and water pumps are working still with 300k plus mi. Hi RPM or new batch of defective pumps being used is another guess.

Is your kit good for the DD trucks or is it a strickly race/puller truck kit. I see it uses the same pump as these other guys are running but it says not for street use on your site. Is this due to the way your kit is installed, the parts that you use in the kit, or just that you havnt tested your kit on a duel purpose DD/track truck? With my new motor build i know i will be trashing pumps soon enough and i would like to go electric when the time comes but my truck is used on the street alot.

I gutted the stock water pump by pulling the gear and impellar off and the shaft then welded the hole shut where the shaft went thru that was my new plate

there is a line that comes down from the Tstat housing to the water pump I welded that shut also and then tapped the housing and ran a hose down to my lower rad hose...... Not sure if that was needed but I wanted that line pre pump not post

there are a couple pics in the water pump dangers thead that may help and I should of moved into this one
little help PLEASE... the line that comes down from the thermostat housing to the pump, how do you remove it from the thermostat housing????? i have a LLY O5, I CANT remove the pump due to the line being in the way of the removal of the pump..i just cant figure it out....

can anyone post a basic drawing on the best way to route the hoses and the best route to use for a bypass?

we've already made a blocker plate for the tube that comes up off of the water pump and freeze plugged the pump...

someone asked earlier about using the thermostat switch to control the pump and where to mount it, but the only answer he got was don't use it and have it key on all the time with a shut off switch...Is this the best way to do it?
or is drilling the thermostats good enough for a bypass?

Thanks,

Pepp

on edit: 1 more question...Can you just run the pump in the trucks stock flow pattern without blocking off the tube that goes up to the thermostat housing?

I have a pipe that goes in the bypass port and thats how i recommend it. I run the pump all the time the key is on and if the electric fan is still running it also powers the pump relay.

All my new electronic accessories are fused and relayed using a blue sea marine fuse panel. The fans are automatic using the Dakota controller. The pump is on its own switch

since my truck is a daily driver 99% of the time, would it be beneficial to just not block anything off and just use it in the factory configuration?(except with the pump inline in the lower radiator hose)

also:

does anyone know if this pump is centrifugal? positive displacement?

Thanks,

Pepp
